All eyes are on Riyadh as Al Hilal puts the finishing touches on preparations to host Al Ahli Dubai Youth in an anticipated Asian summit tomorrow (Tuesday) as part of the fourth round of the Asian elite, but the Emirati guest has chosen silence and ignored all communications from the blue team.
According to "Okaz," the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Asian Football Confederation is set to punish the Al Ahli Dubai Youth team if it insists on not participating in the match, as the competition regulations state that "withdrawing without a compelling excuse is considered a withdrawal from the entire tournament and not just from one match," along with the annulment of all results of the withdrawn team and imposing a financial penalty of no less than $50,000 if the withdrawal occurs during the league stage, in addition to being banned from participating in one or more seasons of the continental federation's tournaments.
The Asian Confederation bases this action on a precedent involving the punishment of Shandong Taishan FC, which was banned from participating in continental competitions for two years after withdrawing from a match against Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea on February 19, 2025.
The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee had decided at that time to prevent Shandong from participating until the 2026-2027 season, imposing a fine of $50,000, requiring it to refund the participation fees of $600,000 and a performance bonus of $200,000, in addition to compensating Ulsan with $40,000 for damages and losses.
