حجز الأهلي السعودي مقعده في مواجهة ماميلودي صن داونز الجنوب أفريقي، بعدما حقق فوزاً ثميناً على أوكلاند سيتي النيوزيلندي بهدف دون رد، اليوم (الأربعاء)، ضمن ملحق «كأس أفريقيا-آسيا-المحيط الهادئ»، في منافسات كأس إنتركونتيننتال 2026 التي ينظمها الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم.
دخل الأهلي اللقاء برغبة واضحة في حسم التأهل، وفرض أفضليته الهجومية منذ الدقائق الأولى، فيما كاد أوكلاند يخطف الأسبقية في الدقيقة 18 بعد انفراد صريح، إلا أن الحارس إدوار ميندي واصل تألقه وتصدى للكرة ببراعة، محافظاً على نظافة شباكه.
ومع مرور دقائق الشوط الأول، كثّف الأهلي محاولاته بحثاً عن هدف التقدم، وكان إدوارد سبيرتسيان قريباً من التسجيل في أكثر من مناسبة، أبرزها في الدقيقة 40 عندما أطلق تسديدة قوية تصدى لها حارس أوكلاند ببراعة، لينتهي الشوط الأول بالتعادل دون أهداف.
ومع بداية الشوط الثاني، واصل الأهلي ضغطه، قبل أن يتدخل الجهاز الفني بإجراء تبديلات هجومية، بدخول صالح أبو الشامات وأرتيم بوندارنكو في الدقيقة 62.
ولم يحتج أبو الشامات سوى دقيقة واحدة ليترك بصمته، بعدما استغل تمريرة متقنة من سبيرتسيان، وأودع الكرة في شباك أوكلاند، معلناً تقدم الأهلي بهدف في الدقيقة 63، ليصبح هدفه لحظة الحسم في المواجهة.
حاول الفريق النيوزيلندي العودة في الدقائق الأخيرة، لكن دفاع الأهلي وحارسه حافظا على التقدم، قبل أن تزداد مهمة أوكلاند صعوبة بعد طرد سام كوسغروف بالبطاقة الحمراء في الدقيقة 87.
وأطلق الحكم صافرة النهاية معلناً عبور الأهلي إلى المرحلة التالية من البطولة، ليضرب موعداً مع ماميلودي صن داونز، بطل أفريقيا، في مواجهة مرتقبة ضمن منافسات كأس القارات الثلاث «آسيا-أفريقيا-المحيط الهادئ».
ويواصل الأهلي بذلك مغامرته العالمية، بعدما حجز مقعده في كأس إنتركونتيننتال إثر نجاحه في الدفاع عن لقب دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة، ليواصل تمثيل الكرة السعودية في المحافل الدولية بحثاً عن إنجاز جديد يضاف إلى سجله.
Al-Ahli Saudi secured its place in the match against Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa after achieving a valuable victory over Auckland City from New Zealand with a goal to nil today (Wednesday), as part of the "Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup" playoff in the 2026 Intercontinental Cup organized by FIFA.
Al-Ahli entered the match with a clear desire to secure qualification, imposing its attacking superiority from the first minutes. Auckland nearly took the lead in the 18th minute after a clear chance, but goalkeeper Edouard Mendy continued his brilliance and skillfully saved the ball, keeping his net clean.
As the first half progressed, Al-Ahli intensified its attempts in search of a goal to take the lead, with Edward Spiritsian coming close to scoring on several occasions, the most notable being in the 40th minute when he unleashed a powerful shot that was brilliantly saved by the Auckland goalkeeper, ending the first half in a goalless draw.
At the start of the second half, Al-Ahli continued its pressure before the coaching staff made attacking substitutions, bringing in Saleh Abu al-Shamat and Artem Bondarenko in the 62nd minute.
Abu al-Shamat needed just one minute to leave his mark after capitalizing on a precise pass from Spiritsian, slotting the ball into the Auckland net, announcing Al-Ahli's lead with a goal in the 63rd minute, making it the decisive moment in the match.
The New Zealand team tried to come back in the final minutes, but Al-Ahli's defense and goalkeeper maintained the lead, before Auckland's task became more difficult after Sam Cosgrove was sent off with a red card in the 87th minute.
The referee blew the final whistle, announcing Al-Ahli's advancement to the next stage of the tournament, setting up a date with Mamelodi Sundowns, the African champion, in an anticipated match in the three continents cup "Asia-Africa-Pacific."
Thus, Al-Ahli continues its global adventure after securing its place in the Intercontinental Cup by successfully defending its title in the Elite AFC Champions League, continuing to represent Saudi football on the international stage in search of a new achievement to add to its record.
