أعلن الاتحاد السنغالي لكرة القدم، اليوم (الأحد)، إقالة بابي ثياو من تدريب المنتخب الأول، بعد الوداع المبكر لبطولة كأس العالم 2026 المُقامة في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا والمكسيك.

وقال الاتحاد السنغالي في بيان عبر حسابه الرسمي على منصة «إكس»، إنه عقب اجتماع اللجنة التنفيذية أمس تقرر البدء في إجراءات إنهاء مهام المدرب بابي ثياو، وكذلك جميع أعضاء طاقمه الفني.
وأضاف البيان: «يأتي هذا القرار عقب خروج المنتخب السنغالي من دور الـ32 في بطولة كأس العالم 2026، وبعد تقييم دقيق للنتائج الرياضية، رأت اللجنة التنفيذية ضرورة البدء بهذا الإجراء لما فيه مصلحة كرة القدم السنغالية».
وداع مؤلم للمونديال
وودع منتخب السنغال المونديال من دور الـ32 بسيناريو دراماتيكي، إذ أهدر تقدمه 2-0 أمام بلجيكا قبل دقائق قليلة من نهاية المباراة، ليتعادل المنتخب البلجيكي، قبل أن يخطف الفوز في الوقت الإضافي.

وبحسب صحيفة «ليكيب»، فإن الفرنسي باتريك فييرا، الفائز بكأس العالم، من بين المرشحين الأوفر حظاً لتولي تدريب «أسود التيرانغا».

The Senegalese Federation stated in a statement via its official account on the "X" platform that following a meeting of the executive committee yesterday, it was decided to initiate the procedures for terminating the duties of coach Pape Thiaw, as well as all members of his coaching staff.
The statement added: "This decision comes after the Senegalese team was eliminated in the Round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup, and after a thorough evaluation of the sporting results, the executive committee deemed it necessary to begin this action in the interest of Senegalese football."
