«البرنامج السعودي» يوقع اتفاقية لدعم الرياضة اليمنية

The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen has signed a joint cooperation agreement with the Yemeni Ministry of Youth and Sports aimed at enhancing collaboration in supporting and developing the sports sector, improving the efficiency of sports facilities, and developing the capabilities of Yemeni youth, which contributes to raising the efficiency of sports infrastructure in various governorates of Yemen.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef Saleh Al-Bakri, and the Assistant Supervisor General of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, Engineer Hassan Al-Attas, in the presence of the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, and the General Director of Partnerships and Agreements at the Saudi Ministry of Sports, Hani Mansi - via video conference.

The Yemeni Minister of Youth and Sports praised the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen for sports and athletes in various Yemeni governorates, including the sponsorship and support for the continuity of holding championships and sports activities, such as the volleyball championship for the provincial teams in Aden, which was held at the Ali As'ad Muthna Sports Hall, and is considered the first project of the program in supporting sports and youth; thus providing young people with the opportunity to benefit from these facilities in developing their skills and capabilities and practicing sports.

For her part, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, confirmed that this support has multiple positive dimensions and significance in enhancing the role of youth and sports, and that what the Kingdom provides in terms of support and assistance in various fields has significantly contributed to improving life and supporting the efforts of the Yemeni government and assisting it in providing services to the Yemeni people.

For his part, the Assistant Supervisor General of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, Engineer Hassan Al-Attas, explained that coinciding with the signing of this agreement, the Yemeni governorates are witnessing continuous sports activity supported by initiatives from the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, as sports championships are currently being held in Aden, Hadhramaut, Socotra, and Marib with wide participation from clubs and young players, which has contributed to enhancing sports activities and provided young people with opportunities to participate and showcase their talents, thereby enhancing the presence of sports and supporting development pathways in various Yemeni governorates.

The agreement included several areas of cooperation, most notably providing technical and consulting support in the field of sustainability of sports buildings and improving their efficiency in coordination between the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the relevant authorities, and implementing sports championships in several games, in addition to building sports capacities, in coordination with the offices of youth and sports and the program offices in the Yemeni governorates.

The signing of the agreement comes as an extension of the efforts of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen in supporting youth and sports through various sports and youth projects and initiatives, which included rehabilitating sports facilities, constructing stadiums, sponsoring sports championships, in addition to providing technical support and transferring expertise in the sports field, which enhances the capabilities of Yemeni youth and contributes to building a brighter future for the coming generations.

The projects and initiatives of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen highlight the establishment of sports fields with specifications from the International Football Federation (FIFA), including the fields of Al-Jazeera, Al-Rawda, and Al-Mina clubs in Aden Governorate, which provides young people with an exceptional sports environment that enables them to practice sports at the highest level and enhances their capabilities and skills, alongside more than 30 sports fields in model schools distributed across various governorates.

It also included organizing several sports championships that provided young people with the opportunity to compete and showcase their skills, including the ongoing sports championships in Aden, Marib, Hadhramaut, and Socotra.

It is worth noting that the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen has presented 268 development projects and initiatives in 8 essential and vital sectors, which are: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, developing and supporting the capabilities of the Yemeni government, and development programs, in various Yemeni governorates.
