علمت «عكاظ» من مصادرها الخاصة أن سبب رفض قائد الاتحاد كريم بنزيما، السفر إلى مدينة الأحساء برفقة الفريق استعداداً لمواجهة الفتح ضمن منافسات الجولة الـ(19) من الدوري السعودي للمحترفين «دوري روشن» والتي تعادل فيها الاتحاد بنتيجة إيجابية بهدفين لهدفين، إذ أُبلغ «بنزيما»، عقب مشاركته في التدريب الأخير أن تجديد العقد في الموسم القادم سيكون دون راتب، والاكتفاء فقط بحقوق الصور فقط، الأمر الذي أدى لغضب اللاعب، لذا فضل عدم السفر وخوض المواجهة لحين تحديد مصيره مع الاتحاد بعد أن شهدت الأيام الماضية توتراً في المفاوضات بين الطرفين والتي أدت لتأخير تجديد عقده، إذ يشعر «بنزيما» بخيبة أمل كبيرة بسبب دوره الكبير والمحوري في تتويج الاتحاد بالدوري والكأس بعد قدومه في 2023.
من جانبها كشفت صحيفة «آس» الإسبانية في تقرير نشرته على موقعها الرسمي أن الفرنسي «بنزيما» يشعر بالإهانة من العرض الجديد المقدم من إدارة الاتحاد الذي لا يوازي تاريخه ولا مكانته كنجم قادم من أعرق أندية العالم «ريال مدريد»، ولا يوازي ما قدمه مع فريقه الاتحاد ومساهمته في تحقيق الدوري والكأس الموسم الماضي، وأضاف التقرير أن الإدارة الاتحادية وعدت «بنزيما» بتجديد عقده بنفس المميزات السابقة ولكنها تراجعت قبل توقيعه بلحظات.
يذكر أن كريم بنزيما «38 عاماً» انضم لفريق الاتحاد في صيف 2023 لمدة 3 سنوات على أن ينتهي في صيف 2026، بقيمة عقد 2.4 مليار ريال، وحقق مع الفريق بطولتين كأس دوري روشن وكأس الملك، ونجح في تسجيل 54 هدفاً وصناعة 17 في 83 مباراة، منها 16 هدفاً في 21 مباراة خاضها مع «النمور» خلال الموسم الحالي في جميع البطولات.

On its part, the Spanish newspaper "AS" revealed in a report published on its official website that the Frenchman Benzema feels insulted by the new offer presented by Al-Ittihad's management, which does not match his history or status as a star coming from one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, "Real Madrid," nor does it reflect what he has contributed to his team Al-Ittihad and his role in achieving the league and cup last season. The report added that the Al-Ittihad management promised Benzema to renew his contract with the same previous benefits, but they backtracked moments before his signing.
It is worth noting that Karim Benzema, 38 years old, joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 for a duration of 3 years, set to end in the summer of 2026, with a contract value of 2.4 billion riyals. He achieved two titles with the team, the Roshen League Cup and the King's Cup, and succeeded in scoring 54 goals and providing 17 assists in 83 matches, including 16 goals in 21 matches he played with the "Tigers" during the current season across all competitions.
