أعلن الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم رسمياً، اليوم، اعتزامه إطلاق منافسة جديدة وهي دوري الأمم الآسيوية في إطار التزامه بتعزيز كرة القدم للمنتخبات الوطنية، وجاء في بيان للاتحاد عبر موقعه الرسمي أن إطلاق البطولة يأتي ضمن جهود الاتحاد المستمرة لتحسين فرص التطوير للاتحادات الأعضاء، ووضع إطار عمل أكثر تنظيماً واستدامة للمباريات الدولية.
وتابع: «تماشياً مع الإصلاحات الناجحة الأخيرة في منظومة مسابقات الأندية التابعة للاتحاد الآسيوي، يواصل الاتحاد تبني مبادرات إستراتيجية تدعم النمو المستدام والتوازن التنافسي، وتوفير فرص قيّمة للمشاركة في المباريات، مع تحسين استقرار أجندة مباريات المنتخبات الوطنية».
وأكد الاتحاد أنه يركز على توفير مسارات تطوير عالية الجودة ومتسقة لاتحاداته الأعضاء، بما يتماشى مع رؤيته طويلة الأمد للنهوض بكرة القدم في آسيا، ومع ذلك أصبح الاستغلال الأمثل لفترات المباريات الدولية المحددة من قبل «الفيفا» أكثر صعوبة نظراً لمحدودية توافر الخصوم وارتفاع التكاليف التشغيلية والتعقيدات اللوجستية، مما يقلص في كثير من الأحيان من القيمة الرياضية للمباريات الدولية.
وأشار إلى أن جميع التحديات السابق ذكرها، أبرزت الحاجة إلى إطار تنافسي أكثر تنظيماً وقابلية للتنبؤ واستدامة للمنتخبات الوطنية، وبعد مراجعة داخلية شاملة وعملية تشاور واسعة، قرر الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم مبدئياً إطلاق دوري أمم آسيا.
وأكد أن هذه البطولة تهدف لضمان إقامة مباريات دولية منتظمة خلال فترات التوقف الدولي للمباريات، وتعزيز التوازن التنافسي من خلال مباريات مصنفة حسب المستوى، وتحسين كفاءة التكاليف عبر التنسيق المركزي وتوفير مسارات تطور أوضح للمنتخبات الوطنية.
وتعليقاً على هذه المبادرة، قال الأمين العام للاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم داتوك سيري ويندسور جون: «تمثل بطولة دوري الأمم الآسيوية خطوة مهمة نحو الأمام في التزامنا المستمر بدعم تطوير الاتحادات الأعضاء البالغ عددها 47 اتحاداً».
وأضاف أنه ومن خلال تقديم منصة تنافسية منظمة خلال فترات توقف المباريات الدولية للفيفا، مع مزيد من الاستقرار في الجدول الزمني وحوافز رياضية واضحة، يهدف الاتحاد لضمان الوصول المستمر إلى مباريات عالية الجودة، مع معالجة التحديات اللوجستية والتكاليف التي تواجهها المنتخبات الوطنية.
وكشف الاتحاد في بيانه أنه سيتم مناقشة المزيد من التفاصيل المتعلقة بنظام البطولة وجدولها الزمني وآلية تنفيذها من خلال لجان الاتحاد الآسيوي المعنية ومشاورات مع الجهات المعنية، وسيتم إعلانها في الوقت المناسب.
The Asian Football Confederation officially announced today its intention to launch a new competition, the Asian Nations League, as part of its commitment to enhance national team football. In a statement from the federation on its official website, it was mentioned that the launch of the tournament is part of the federation's ongoing efforts to improve development opportunities for member associations and to establish a more organized and sustainable framework for international matches.
It continued: "In line with the recent successful reforms in the club competition system of the Asian Football Confederation, the federation continues to adopt strategic initiatives that support sustainable growth and competitive balance, providing valuable opportunities for participation in matches while improving the stability of the national teams' match schedules."
The federation confirmed that it focuses on providing high-quality and consistent development pathways for its member associations, in line with its long-term vision to advance football in Asia. However, optimizing the use of the international match windows set by FIFA has become increasingly difficult due to the limited availability of opponents, rising operational costs, and logistical complexities, which often diminishes the sporting value of international matches.
It pointed out that all the aforementioned challenges highlighted the need for a more organized, predictable, and sustainable competitive framework for national teams. After a comprehensive internal review and extensive consultations, the Asian Football Confederation has preliminarily decided to launch the Asian Nations League.
It confirmed that this tournament aims to ensure regular international matches during FIFA's international match windows, enhance competitive balance through matches ranked by level, and improve cost efficiency through centralized coordination while providing clearer development pathways for national teams.
Commenting on this initiative, the Secretary-General of the Asian Football Confederation, Dato' Seri Windsor John, said: "The Asian Nations League represents an important step forward in our ongoing commitment to support the development of the 47 member associations."
He added that by providing an organized competitive platform during FIFA's international match windows, with greater stability in scheduling and clear sporting incentives, the federation aims to ensure continued access to high-quality matches while addressing the logistical challenges and costs faced by national teams.
The federation revealed in its statement that further details regarding the tournament's format, schedule, and implementation mechanism will be discussed through the relevant committees of the Asian Football Confederation and consultations with stakeholders, and will be announced in due course.
