يخوض منتخب البحرين لقاء صعباً في مستهل مشواره في كأس العرب 2025 عندما يلاقي منتخب العراق عند تمام الساعة 5:30 من مساء اليوم الأربعاء على ملعب 974 وذلك ضمن لقاءات الجولة الأولى للمجموعة الرابعة للبطولة.
يدخل منتخب البحرين هذا اللقاء بعد أن تأهل عبر التصفيات المؤهلة بفوزه على جيبوتي بهدف دون مقابل جاء عن طريق لاعبه محمد الرميحي.
ويخوض الأحمر البحريني منافسات البطولة تحت قيادة مدربه الكرواتي دراجان تالاييتش، الذي تولى المسؤولية في فبراير 2024، والذي يأمل قيادة البحرين لتحقيق إنجاز تاريخي غير مسبوق بحصد لقب كأس العرب لأول مرة في تاريخه، بعد أن سبق أن وصل للنهائي مرتين لكنه خسرهما واكتفى بالوصافة وذلك عامي 1985 و2002م.
فيما يدخل منتخب العراق هذا اللقاء وسط معنويات عالية بعدما نجح في الصعود لنهائي الملحق العالمي المؤهل لبطولة كأس العالم 2026، عقب فوزه على الإمارات في التصفيات الآسيوية المؤهلة لمونديال أمريكا الشمالية، ويسعى أسود الرافدين لبداية قوية في البطولة المفضلة لهم إذ يعد أكثر المنتخبات تتويجاً باللقب (4 مرات).
ورغم غياب عدد من الأسماء البارزة إلا إن مدربه الأسترالي غراهام ارنولد اعتمد على دمج بعض الأسماء الشابة استعداداً للمهمة الأهم ألا وهي الملحق العالمي، ويبرز في المنتخب العراقي كل من الحارس جلال حسن والمهاجم أيمن حسين، إضافة للاعب مهند علي.
