Lozano said during a global football conference in Madrid: "It is a nice gesture towards the fans who watch the league from Asia and America and pay to follow it continuously." The match between Barcelona and Villarreal in round 17 of La Liga will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, making it the first official match in the history of European leagues to be held outside the continent. Lozano added that the decision aims to "enhance the global status of La Liga," noting that the Italian league will follow suit by holding a match between Milan and Como in the Australian city of Perth.
