The captain of the Saudi national team and Al Hilal club, Salem Al-Dosari, aspires to win the award for the best player in the Asian continent for the year 2025. Al-Dosari aims to contribute with his teammates to qualify the Saudi Green for the 2026 World Cup, through the matches against Indonesia and Iraq in the Asian playoff, and to enhance his chances of winning the Asian Player of the Year award. "Okaz" reported on July 1st that Al-Dosari has been nominated for the best award at the continental level in Asia.

Al-Dosari Aspires for Asian Supremacy

The Saudi star Salem Al-Dosari is competing for the Asian Player of the Year award alongside the Qatari duo Akram Afif and Malaysian Aref Ayman Hanabi. Al-Dosari hopes to win the Asian Player of the Year award for the second time, after winning the title of top scorer in the AFC Champions League 2025/2024 with 10 goals, and receiving the award for the best local player in the Roshen Saudi Professional League last season. He also won the award for the best player in the match between Al Hilal and Pachuca from Mexico in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Meanwhile, Akram Afif, a player from Qatar, hopes to be the first player to win the award three times, after contributing to Al Sadd's 18th league title and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, as well as playing a prominent role in Qatar's qualification for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. As for the Malaysian Aref Ayman, he is the first Malaysian player to be nominated for this award after an outstanding 2024/2025 season, during which he led Johor Dar to the Round of 16 in the elite AFC Champions League, scoring five goals, in addition to achieving a domestic treble.

Riyadh Hosts the Annual Ceremony of the Continental Federation

The Saudi Football Federation will host the 29th edition of the annual AFC Awards ceremony for the year 2025 in the capital, Riyadh, on October 16th. This event adds to the series of major sporting events hosted by the Kingdom. The ceremony, which is being held in Riyadh for the first time, will take place at the King Fahd Cultural Center for Conferences; 20 winners will be honored in various categories, including Best Federation, Best Player, and Best Coach, in addition to individual and collective awards celebrating the achievements of the continent's top stars and officials in the game.
