Italy's national team coach Luciano Spalletti revealed that the president of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, informed him of his dismissal from the position after the upcoming match against Moldova. He said: "I feel sad, and my desire was to stay and try to change things for the better, but I still have a good relationship with the president of the federation and I completely understand the decision to dismiss me."

It is worth noting that the Italian national team lost 3-0 to Norway in their first match of the qualifiers.

Spalletti has overseen the Italian national team in 23 matches, winning 11, drawing 6, and losing 6, and exited the 2024 European Championship in the Round of 16.
