تحت جنح الظلام، وفي موقع مفترض أن تحيطه أشد التدابير الأمنية، تحولت أسوار السفارة الإسرائيلية في العاصمة الصربية بلغراد إلى مسرح لفصل دموي سريع، إذ باغت قاصر مجهول الهوية حارساً أمنياً بسلاحين أبيضين، في هجوم انتهى في ثوانٍ معدودة بمقتل المهاجم على يد قوات الأمن.
الواقعة التي أعلنت عنها الشرطة الصربية ووصفتها رسمياً بـ«الهجوم الإرهابي»، دفعت السلطات إلى إعلان حالة التأهب القصوى، ورفع مستوى التهديد الأمني إلى درجته القصوى مع نشر تعزيزات مكثفة حول المواقع الحيوية في البلاد. ووفقاً لتصريحات وزير الداخلية إيفيكا داتشيتش، ترجل المهاجم المجهول نحو نقطة الحراسة مردداً «الله أكبر» بصوت مرتفع، قبل أن يسدد طعناته المباغتة لمجند الدرك الذي رد بإطلاق النار دفاعاً عن نفسه، مصفياً المهاجم في مكان الحادثة بينما تعرض الحارس لإصابات اقتصرت على جروح طفيفة في أنحاء متفرقة من جسده.

According to statements from Interior Minister Ivica Dačić, the unidentified assailant approached the guard post shouting "Allahu Akbar" loudly before delivering surprise stabs to the gendarmerie recruit, who responded by firing in self-defense, neutralizing the assailant at the scene while the guard sustained injuries that were limited to minor wounds in various parts of his body.
