استهل ممثل الوطن لكرة السلة (الاتحاد) مشواره في دوري السوبر لغرب آسيا (منطقة الخليج) بتحقيق فوزٍ مستحق على شباب الأهلي الإماراتي بنتيجة (94-88)، في اللقاء الذي جمعهما على صالة الشيخ سعيد بن مكتوم الرياضية، ضمن الجولة الأولى من دور المجموعات للبطولة.
وجاءت المباراة قوية ومتكافئة في فتراتها الأولى، وأنهى شباب الأهلي الربع الأول متقدماً بنتيجة (28-23)، قبل أن يستعيد الاتحاد توازنه تدريجياً معتمداً على دفاع منظم وهجمات مرتدة فعّالة، لينجح في حسم بقية فترات اللقاء بواقع (17-16)، (25-23)، و(30-21)، لينهي اللقاء لصالحه بنتيجة (94-88) محققاً انتصاره الأول في البطولة.
ويشارك الاتحاد السعودي في البطولة ضمن المجموعة الأولى التي تضم المحرق البحريني، وكاظمة الكويتي، وشباب الأهلي الإماراتي، فيما تضم المجموعة الثانية ممثل الوطن الآخر (العلا)، والشارقة الإماراتي، والكويت الكويتي، والعربي القطري.

The representative of the nation in basketball (Al-Ittihad) began its journey in the Super League for West Asia (Gulf Region) with a deserving victory over Al-Ahli Dubai with a score of (94-88), in the match that took place at the Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Sports Hall, as part of the first round of the group stage of the tournament.
The match was strong and balanced in its early periods, with Al-Ahli finishing the first quarter ahead with a score of (28-23), before Al-Ittihad gradually regained its balance relying on organized defense and effective fast breaks, successfully concluding the remaining periods of the match with scores of (17-16), (25-23), and (30-21), finishing the game in its favor with a score of (94-88), achieving its first victory in the tournament.
Al-Ittihad is participating in the tournament in Group A, which includes Al-Muharraq from Bahrain, Al-Qadsiah from Kuwait, and Al-Ahli Dubai, while Group B includes the other national representative (Al-Ula), Al-Sharjah from the UAE, Al-Kuwait from Kuwait, and Al-Arabi from Qatar.
