كشف الهولندي آرني سلوت سبب رفضه تدريب منتخب بلاده، بعد ثلاثة أشهر فقط من إقالته من تدريب ليفربول الإنجليزي.
وكانت تقارير صحفية قد ذكرت في وقت سابق أن سلوت رفض تدريب منتخب هولندا خلفاً لرونالد كومان، بسبب خلاف حول الراتب ومدة العقد.
سلوت يكشف السبب الحقيقي
وقال سلوت في تصريحات نقلتها صحيفة «ديلي ميل» البريطانية: «خلال الأسابيع القليلة الماضية، ولا سيما الأيام القليلة الأخيرة، ظهرت تقارير مختلفة بشأن إمكانية تدريب منتخب هولندا، وزعمت أنني انسحبت من العملية بعد مفاوضات مطولة بسبب الراتب ومدة العقد، لكن هذه التكهنات غير صحيحة، ببساطة، لم نصل إلى تلك المرحلة من المحادثات قط».
وأضاف: «في هذه المرحلة من مسيرتي المهنية، أفضل أن أكون في الملعب التدريبي مع لاعبي فريقي كل يوم، وهذا أمر لا يمكن تحقيقه بالطريقة نفسها مع المنتخب الهولندي، ولهذا السبب اخترت عدم مواصلة المحادثات، وعدم بدء مفاوضات حول الشكل الذي قد يكون عليه العقد المحتمل».
وتابع: «سيكون شرفاً كبيراً لي أن أمثل بلادي كمدرب للمنتخب الوطني يوماً ما، لكن هذا لم يكن الوقت المناسب بالنسبة لي».
موسم كارثي مع ليفربول
وأُقيل سلوت من تدريب ليفربول في مايو الماضي، بعد موسم كارثي على المستويين المحلي والقاري، رغم الإنفاق المالي القياسي على الصفقات قبل انطلاق موسم 2025-2026.

Earlier reports had stated that Slot declined to coach the Netherlands national team following Ronald Koeman, due to a disagreement over salary and contract duration.
Slot Reveals the Real Reason
Slot stated in comments reported by the British newspaper "Daily Mail": "In the past few weeks, particularly in the last few days, various reports have emerged regarding the possibility of coaching the Netherlands national team, claiming that I withdrew from the process after lengthy negotiations due to salary and contract duration, but these speculations are incorrect; simply put, we never reached that stage of discussions at all."
He added: "At this stage of my career, I prefer to be on the training pitch with my team players every day, and that cannot be achieved in the same way with the Dutch national team, which is why I chose not to continue the discussions and not to start negotiations about what a potential contract might look like."
He continued: "It would be a great honor for me to represent my country as the national team coach one day, but this was not the right time for me."
A Disastrous Season with Liverpool
Slot was dismissed from managing Liverpool last May, after a disastrous season on both domestic and continental levels, despite record financial spending on transfers before the start of the 2025-2026 season.
