شهد المؤتمر الصحفي الذي أعقب مواجهة مصر وكاب فيردي في بطولة العين الودية، لحظة تصعيد جديدة في الجدل المحيط بالمنتخب الوطني، بعدما أطلق المدير الفني حسام حسن سلسلة من التصريحات الحادة التي وجّه فيها انتقادات مباشرة لمنتقدي أداء الجهاز الفني خلال الفترة الماضية.
وبنبرة غاضبة، قال حسام حسن أمام الصحفيين: «عايزين تطلعوني ترند؟ ولا يهمني، انتم بتحاربوا المدربين الوطنيين، يا راجل، ده ميكالي مدرب المنتخب الأولمبي كان بياخد مبلغ وقدره، عيب عليكم، بصوا لمدرب المغرب الوطني».
وأضاف المدير الفني، مشدداً على محدودية الموارد التي يعمل بها المنتخب: «إحنا جهاز وطني بنتقاضى رواتبنا بالجنيه المصري، واللي شايف إننا معملناش إنجاز بوصولنا لكأس العالم وكأس الأمم من غير هزيمة.. بقولهم: خليكم محروقين منّنا».
ولم يتوقف حسام حسن عند حدود الدفاع عن عمله، بل وسّع دائرة حديثه بالعودة إلى مسيرته ومسيرة شقيقه إبراهيم، مؤكداً أن تاريخهما لا يسمح ـ من وجهة نظره ـ بتوجيه الانتقادات إليهما: «انتم ما بتفهموش حاجة، عارفين مين حسام وإبراهيم؟ تاريخنا إيه؟ فيه ناس جم درّبوا منتخب مصر ماكانوش اتولدوا وإحنا بنصنع التاريخ، وبقول للمنتقدين: موتوا بغيظكم».
وتطرق المدير الفني إلى الوضع البدني للفريق وما رآه من إرهاق واضح على اللاعبين، مشيراً إلى تأثير ضغط المباريات المحلية: «الجهاز يعمل إيه أكتر من كده؟ جربنا لعيبة وعملنا اللي علينا، واللعيبة مرهقة جداً بسبب السوبر المصري، واللي بيفهم في الكورة يعرف إني مقدرش أزود الحمل التدريبي».
جاءت هذه التصريحات عقب فوز المنتخب على كاب فيردي بركلات الترجيح (2–0) بعد التعادل (1–1)، ليحصد المركز الثالث في البطولة، بينما خسر مباراته الأولى أمام أوزبكستان بهدفين دون رد.
وتأتي هذه الأجواء الساخنة بينما يستعد المنتخب لخوض نهائيات كأس الأمم الأفريقية 2025 في المغرب، المقرر انطلاقها في 21 ديسمبر 2025، وسط مساعٍ لتثبيت التشكيل الأساسي وتوسيع دائرة الاختيارات قبل خوض المنافسات القارية.
The press conference that followed the match between Egypt and Cape Verde in the Al Ain friendly tournament witnessed a new escalation in the controversy surrounding the national team, as head coach Hossam Hassan launched a series of sharp statements in which he directed direct criticisms at those who have criticized the performance of the coaching staff in recent times.
In an angry tone, Hossam Hassan said in front of reporters: “Do you want to make me trend? I don’t care, you are fighting national coaches. Come on, Mikali, the coach of the Olympic team, was receiving a considerable amount, shame on you, look at the coach of the Moroccan national team.”
The head coach added, emphasizing the limited resources with which the team operates: “We are a national staff receiving our salaries in Egyptian pounds, and for those who think we haven’t achieved anything by reaching the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations without a defeat... I tell them: Stay burned with anger towards us.”
Hossam Hassan did not stop at defending his work; he expanded the scope of his comments by referring to his and his brother Ibrahim's careers, asserting that their history does not allow — from his perspective — for criticisms to be directed at them: “You don’t understand anything, do you know who Hossam and Ibrahim are? What is our history? There are people who came to coach the Egyptian national team who weren’t even born while we were making history, and I tell the critics: Die from your anger.”
The head coach addressed the physical condition of the team and what he observed as clear fatigue among the players, pointing to the impact of the pressure from local matches: “What more can the staff do? We tried players and did what we could, and the players are very fatigued because of the Egyptian Super Cup, and those who understand football know that I cannot increase the training load.”
These statements came after the national team won against Cape Verde in a penalty shootout (2–0) after a draw (1–1), securing third place in the tournament, while they lost their first match against Uzbekistan by two goals to none.
These heated circumstances come as the national team prepares to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco, scheduled to start on December 21, 2025, amidst efforts to stabilize the core lineup and expand the selection options before entering continental competitions.
