وصف رئيس رابطة الدوري الإسباني لكرة القدم خافيير تيباس، إلغاء مباراة برشلونة وفياريال التي كانت ستقام في ميامي بأنها فرصة ضائعة.
وذكرت وكالة الأنباء البريطانية (بي أيه ميديا) أن خطة المباراة التي ستقام في ديسمبر، واجهت انتقادات شديدة، وكانت هناك مزاعم بأنها ستؤثر على نزاهة المنافسة.
واعترض اللاعبون على المبادرة في الجولة الحالية من الدوري من خلال رفضهم التحرك في الثواني الأولى من كل مباراة، وبالأمس أعلنت الرابطة أن المباراة تم إلغاؤها «بسبب حالة عدم اليقين الذي نشأ في إسبانيا خلال الأسابيع القليلة الماضية».

وأكد: «يُرفع شعار نزاهة المنافسة من قبل أولئك الذين شككوا في هذه النزاهة نفسها لسنوات، من خلال الضغط على الحكام والمسؤولين، وصناعة روايات مشوهة، أو استخدام الضغط السياسي والإعلامي كأداة رياضية»، طبقاً لما نقلته وكالة الأنباء الألمانية.
وأكمل: «أود أن أشكر فياريال وبرشلونة على التزامهما وسخائهما في المشاركة في مشروع لم يكن يهدف إلا إلى تطوير مسابقاتنا. لم يكونا يفكران في نفسيهما، بل كانا يفكران في الجميع».
وأضاف: «ستواصل الرابطة العمل، بكل صرامة وقناعة، للحفاظ على تنافسية كرة القدم الإسبانية، والتصدي لأولئك الذين يسعون إلى تدميرها، مع احترام جذورها دائماً وضمان استدامتها».
واختتم حديثه قائلاً: «تستحق كرة القدم الإسبانية أن تنظر للمستقبل بطموح وليس بخوف. سنواصل المحاولة. هذه المرة كنا قريبين للغاية».
The president of the Spanish Football League, Javier Tebas, described the cancellation of the match between Barcelona and Villarreal, which was set to take place in Miami, as a missed opportunity.
The British news agency (PA Media) reported that the match plan, scheduled for December, faced severe criticism, with allegations that it would affect the integrity of the competition.
Players protested the initiative in the current round of the league by refusing to move in the first seconds of each match, and yesterday the league announced that the match was canceled "due to the uncertainty that has arisen in Spain over the past few weeks."
However, Tebas believes this is a step backward and strongly criticized the opponents of this plan.
He wrote on the platform "X": "Today, Spanish football lost an opportunity to advance, to appear globally, and to enhance its future."
He added: "There is a narrow-minded and local perspective in defending traditions, while the true traditions of European football are threatened by the decisions of governing bodies, which destroy national leagues year after year, the real driving force of the European football industry, amid naivety and negativity from European leaders who fail to distinguish between what is secondary and what is essential."
He emphasized: "The banner of competition integrity is raised by those who have questioned this very integrity for years, by pressuring referees and officials, creating distorted narratives, or using political and media pressure as a sporting tool," according to the German news agency.
He continued: "I would like to thank Villarreal and Barcelona for their commitment and generosity in participating in a project that aimed only to develop our competitions. They were not thinking of themselves, but of everyone."
He added: "The league will continue to work, with rigor and conviction, to maintain the competitiveness of Spanish football and to confront those who seek to destroy it, while always respecting its roots and ensuring its sustainability."
He concluded his remarks by saying: "Spanish football deserves to look to the future with ambition and not fear. We will continue to try. This time we were very close."
