أعلن نادي باير ليفركوزن الألماني، اليوم الإثنين، إقالة مدربه الهولندي إريك تين هاغ، وذلك بسبب البداية المتعثرة للفريق هذا الموسم.
وأوضح النادي في بيان عبر موقعه الإليكتروني، أن الإدارة قررت الانفصال عن تين هاغ، على أن يتولى الجهاز الفني المعاون قيادة التدريبات بشكل مؤقت.
من جانبه، قال سيمون رولفز، المدير الرياضي لباير ليفركوزن: «لم يكن هذا القرار سهلاً علينا، لم يرغب أحد في اتخاذ هذه الخطوة، لكن الأسابيع القليلة الماضية أثبتت أن بناء فريق جديد وناجح بهذه الطريقة غير ممكن».
وأضاف: «نحن نؤمن بجودة فريقنا، وسنواصل العمل بكل جدية للمضي قدماً في مشروعنا مع التشكيل الجديد».
وكان تين هاغ قد تولّى تدريب ليفركوزن في مايو الماضي خلفاً للإسباني تشابي ألونسو، لكنه لم يصمد سوى 3 مباريات؛ إذ حقق فوزاً وحيداً في كأس ألمانيا أمام زونينوف جروساسباخ برباعية نظيفة، بينما تعثر في أول جولتين من الدوري الألماني، بالخسارة أمام هوفنهايم (2-1)، والتعادل مع فيردر بريمن (3-3).
The German club Bayer Leverkusen announced today, Monday, the dismissal of its Dutch coach Erik ten Hag, due to the team's rocky start this season.
The club clarified in a statement on its website that the management decided to part ways with ten Hag, and that the assistant coaching staff will temporarily lead the training sessions.
For his part, Simon Rolfes, the sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen, said: "This decision was not easy for us; no one wanted to take this step, but the past few weeks have proven that building a new and successful team in this way is not possible."
He added: "We believe in the quality of our team, and we will continue to work diligently to move forward with our project with the new formation."
Ten Hag took over coaching Leverkusen last May, succeeding the Spaniard Xabi Alonso, but he lasted only 3 matches; he achieved a single victory in the DFB-Pokal against Sonnenhof Großaspach with a score of 4-0, while stumbling in the first two rounds of the Bundesliga, losing to Hoffenheim (2-1) and drawing with Werder Bremen (3-3).
