أعلن مانشستر سيتي الإنجليزي، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، تعاقده مع حارس المرمى جيمس ترافورد، قادماً من صفوف بيرنلي.
وأوضح النادي الإنجليزي في بيان، أن ترافورد (22 عاماً) وقّع على عقد يمتد لخمس سنوات حتى يونيو 2030، ليعود بذلك إلى ملعب الاتحاد بعد أن قضى قرابة ثمانية أعوام ضمن أكاديمية السيتي قبل انتقاله إلى بيرنلي في 2023.
خلال موسميه مع بيرنلي، أثبت ترافورد نفسه كأحد أكثر الحراس الواعدين في أوروبا، ونال إشادة واسعة بعد مستواه اللافت في موسمه الأول تحت قيادة قائد السيتي السابق فينسنت كومباني.
ورغم أن ذلك الموسم انتهى بهبوط الفريق إلى التشامبيونشيب، إلا أن سمعة ترافورد بقيت تتصاعد، خصوصاً في الموسم التالي (2024-2025) تحت قيادة المدرب سكوت باركر، الذي خلف كومباني، بحسب موقع مانشستر سيتي.
تأتي عودة ترافورد، وسط شكوك حول مستقبل الحارس البرازيلي إيدرسون مع مانشستر سيتي، في ظل اهتمام غلطة سراي التركي بضمه خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الحالية، بحسب تقارير صحفية.
Manchester City announced today (Tuesday) that they have signed goalkeeper James Trafford, coming from Burnley.
The English club stated in a statement that Trafford (22 years old) has signed a contract that extends for five years until June 2030, thus returning to the Etihad Stadium after spending nearly eight years in the City Academy before moving to Burnley in 2023.
During his two seasons with Burnley, Trafford established himself as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Europe, receiving widespread praise for his impressive performance in his first season under the leadership of former City captain Vincent Kompany.
Although that season ended with the team being relegated to the Championship, Trafford's reputation continued to rise, especially in the following season (2024-2025) under the management of Scott Parker, who succeeded Kompany, according to Manchester City's website.
Trafford's return comes amid doubts about the future of Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson with Manchester City, as Turkish club Galatasaray is reportedly interested in signing him during the current summer transfer window, according to media reports.
