أعلن نادي أتلتيك بلباو، اليوم (الجمعة)، عن تجديد عقد نجمه نيكو ويليامز لمدة 8 سنوات، لينهي آمال برشلونة في ضم اللاعب.
وقال النادي الإسباني في بيان رسمي: «وقع نيكو ويليامز عقدًا جديدًا مع بلباو يمتد لمدة ثماني سنوات، ليبقى الجناح في صفوف الفريق حتى عام 2035، بهدف صنع المزيد من التاريخ مع أتلتيك».
وأضاف البيان: «يشمل العقد الجديد لنيكو ويليامز زيادة في قيمة الشرط الجزائي بنسبة تفوق 50% مقارنة بالعقد السابق».
من جانبه، قال نيكو ويليامز عقب تجديد عقده: «عندما يتعلق الأمر باتخاذ القرارات، فإن أهم شيء بالنسبة لي هو الاستماع إلى قلبي. أنا هنا حيث أرغب أن أكون، مع عائلتي، هذا هو بيتي».
وكان ويليامز قد تراجع عن قراره بالانضمام إلى برشلونة مقابل كسر الشرط الجزائي في عقده، والذي كان يُقدّر بـ58 مليون يورو، خوفًا من عدم تسجيله في قائمة البلوغرانا بسبب قواعد اللعب المالي النظيف.
The Athletic Bilbao club announced today (Friday) the renewal of its star Nico Williams' contract for 8 years, putting an end to Barcelona's hopes of signing the player.
The Spanish club stated in an official statement: "Nico Williams has signed a new contract with Bilbao that extends for eight years, keeping the winger with the team until 2035, with the aim of making more history with Athletic."
The statement added: "The new contract for Nico Williams includes an increase in the buyout clause of more than 50% compared to the previous contract."
For his part, Nico Williams said after renewing his contract: "When it comes to making decisions, the most important thing for me is to listen to my heart. I am here where I want to be, with my family, this is my home."
Williams had previously reconsidered his decision to join Barcelona by triggering the buyout clause in his contract, which was estimated at 58 million euros, fearing he would not be registered in the Blaugrana's roster due to financial fair play regulations.
