قرر الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم (يويفا) تأجيل قراره بشأن السماح بمشاركة فريق كريستال بالاس الإنجليزي في الدوري الأوروبي الموسم المقبل.
وذكرت وكالة الأنباء البريطانية (بي إيه ميديا) أن كريستال بالاس اعتقد أنه ضمن مكاناً في البطولة الأوروبية بفضل فوزه في نهائي كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي على مانشستر سيتي في مايو الماضي، لكن ثارت شكوك حول إمكانية مشاركة الفريق الإنجليزي؛ بسبب لوائح (يويفا) المتعلقة بتعدد ملكية الأندية.
ويرتبط جون تكستور، المساهم السابق في النادي الإنجليزي، بمصالح استثمارية في نادي أولمبيك ليون الفرنسي، الذي تأهل إلى البطولة نفسها.
وأعلن (يويفا)، اليوم الإثنين، أنه يحتاج إلى مزيد من الوقت لاتخاذ قرار، وأن ليون لديه تسوية تهدده بالاستبعاد من المسابقات الأوروبية الموسم المقبل في حال تأييد قرار هبوطه إلى دوري الدرجة الثانية في فرنسا.
ويستأنف النادي الفرنسي ضد قرار هبوطه للدرجة الثانية الصادر عن هيئة الرقابة الفرنسية المالية بسبب صعوبات مالية.
في سياق متصل، تم الإعلان في الأسبوع الماضي أن تيكستور وافق على بيع حصته في النادي الإنجليزي إلى وودي جونسون، مالك فريق نيويورك جيتس، طبقاً لوكالة الأنباء الألمانية.
كما أُعلن تيكستور استقالته من مناصبه القيادية في ليون، بينما يترقب كريستال بالاس ما إذا كانت هذه الخطوة ستعزز من موقفه.
وتم النظر في قضية كريستال بالاس بموجب المادة الخامسة من لوائح مسابقات الأندية التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم، التي تنص على أنه اعتباراً من أول مارس 2025، يجب على الأندية الراغبة في المشاركة بالبطولات القارية لموسم 2025 / 2026 إثبات عدم وجود أي مصالح أو نفوذ لأي فرد من مسؤوليها أو كيان قانوني على أكثر من نادٍ واحد مشارك في المسابقة نفسها.
وتنص أيضاً على أنه في حال فشل ناديان أو أكثر في استيفاء المعايير، سيتم السماح بمشاركة فريق واحد فقط، ويبدو أن احتلال ليون مركزاً أفضل في الدوري الفرنسي يضعه في مرتبة أعلى من بالاس.
قال ليون: «اتفاقية التسوية التي وقعناها مع هيئة الرقابة المالية على الأندية التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم تعني أنه بإمكاننا المشاركة في الدوري الأوروبي الموسم المقبل، ويبقى القرار النهائي مرهوناً بنتيجة الاستئناف ضد قرار هيئة الرقابة المالية في فرنسا».
ويعني ذلك أن مشاركة ليون تتوقف على نجاح استئنافه، ولكن يبقى الغموض قائماً بشأن قبول (يويفا) لمشاركة كريستال بالاس أيضاً إذا التزم النادي الإنجليزي بشروط لوائح تعدد ملكية الأندية، وسيتم اعتماد مشاركته فقط في حال تأكيد هبوط ليون.
The European Football Association (UEFA) has decided to postpone its decision regarding the participation of English team Crystal Palace in the Europa League next season.
The British news agency (PA Media) reported that Crystal Palace believed it had secured a place in the European tournament thanks to its victory in the FA Cup final against Manchester City last May, but doubts arose about the possibility of the English team participating due to UEFA regulations concerning multiple club ownership.
John Textor, a former shareholder in the English club, has investment interests in French club Olympique Lyon, which has qualified for the same tournament.
UEFA announced today, Monday, that it needs more time to make a decision, and that Lyon has a settlement that threatens its exclusion from European competitions next season if the decision to relegate it to the second division in France is upheld.
The French club is appealing against the decision to relegate it to the second division issued by the French financial regulatory authority due to financial difficulties.
In related news, it was announced last week that Textor agreed to sell his stake in the English club to Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets, according to the German news agency.
Textor also announced his resignation from his leadership positions at Lyon, while Crystal Palace awaits whether this move will strengthen its position.
The case of Crystal Palace is being considered under Article 5 of the UEFA club competition regulations, which states that starting from March 1, 2025, clubs wishing to participate in continental competitions for the 2025/2026 season must prove that there are no interests or influence from any of their officials or legal entities over more than one club participating in the same competition.
It also stipulates that if two or more clubs fail to meet the criteria, only one team will be allowed to participate, and Lyon's better position in the French league seems to place it in a higher rank than Palace.
Lyon stated: “The settlement agreement we signed with the financial regulatory authority for clubs under UEFA means that we can participate in the Europa League next season, but the final decision depends on the outcome of the appeal against the decision of the financial authority in France.”
This means that Lyon's participation depends on the success of its appeal, but uncertainty remains regarding UEFA's acceptance of Crystal Palace's participation as well if the English club complies with the conditions of the multiple club ownership regulations, and its participation will only be confirmed if Lyon's relegation is upheld.
