في مطلع الأسبوع الحالي، أثار نعي الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم (يويفا)، للاعب المنتخب الفلسطيني السابق سليمان العبيد، الذي قُتل في غزة على يد قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، تساؤلات من مهاجم ليفربول ومنتخب مصر محمد صلاح، ودعوات أوسع نطاقاً لتعليق مشاركة إسرائيل في المنافسات الدولية لكرة القدم.
وكان يويفا قد نعى سليمان العبيد، المُلقب بـ«بيليه فلسطين»، والذي قُتل على يد قوات الاحتلال، دون توضيح ملابسات مقتله، ليرد صلاح بتغريدة على منصة «إكس» قائلاً: «هل يمكن أن تخبرونا كيف مات؟ وأين؟ ولماذا؟».
ولم يصدر الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم أي رد مباشر على تعليق صلاح في وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، لكنه كشف في الساعات الماضية تفاصيل سلسلة من المبادرات المشتركة لدعم الأطفال المتضررين من الحرب في غزة.
وقد تم تأسيس هذه الشراكات مع منظمات مثل أطباء العالم، وأطباء بلا حدود، وهانديكاب إنترناشونال، وتعمل كل منها بطرق مختلفة لمساعدة الأطفال المتأثرين بالنزاع في غزة، الذي وصفه الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أنطونيو غوتيريش، في تصريح، بأنه «كارثة إنسانية».
من جانبه، قال رئيس الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم، ألكسندر تشيفرين: «مهما كان ما يظنه الكبار الذين يخوضون الحروب أنهم يفعلونه، فإن الأطفال أبرياء، لكنهم في جميع النزاعات يموتون كل يوم، وعلينا أن نبذل قصارى جهدنا لمساعدة من يسعون إلى جعل حياتهم أكثر قبولًا وطبيعية».
وأضاف: «من خلال مؤسسة الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم للأطفال، نسعى جاهدين لدعم أولئك الذين يعملون على تخفيف معاناة الأطفال، ومساعدتهم في العثور على لحظات من السلام والأمل، حتى في أصعب الظروف».
At the beginning of this week, the European Football Association (UEFA) mourned the former Palestinian national team player Suleiman Al-Obaid, who was killed in Gaza by Israeli occupation forces, raising questions from Liverpool striker and Egypt national team player Mohamed Salah, and broader calls to suspend Israel's participation in international football competitions.
UEFA had mourned Suleiman Al-Obaid, nicknamed "the Pele of Palestine," who was killed by the occupation forces, without clarifying the circumstances of his death. Salah responded with a tweet on the platform "X," asking: "Can you tell us how he died? Where? And why?"
The European Football Association did not issue any direct response to Salah's comment on social media, but it revealed in recent hours details of a series of joint initiatives to support children affected by the war in Gaza.
These partnerships were established with organizations such as Doctors of the World, Doctors Without Borders, and Handicap International, each working in different ways to assist children affected by the conflict in Gaza, which the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, described in a statement as a "humanitarian catastrophe."
For his part, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said: "Whatever it is that adults who wage wars think they are doing, children are innocent, yet they die every day in all conflicts, and we must do our utmost to help those who seek to make their lives more bearable and normal."
He added: "Through the UEFA Foundation for Children, we strive to support those who work to alleviate the suffering of children and help them find moments of peace and hope, even in the most difficult circumstances."
