هدد وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت، اليوم (الأربعاء)، بتوسيع العقوبات على إيران لتشمل شركات الطيران والقطاع البحري والأصول الرقمية. ودعا بيسنت في مقابلة مع شبكة «فوكس نيوز»، روسيا إلى التخلي عن دعم النظام الإيراني، مؤكداً أن الولايات المتحدة تجري محادثات شاملة مع كل من يدعم إيران. وأشار إلى أن رسالته إلى الجميع واضحة، وهي الابتعاد عن دعم إيران، مشدداً على أنه «لا ينبغي لأحد أن يدعم هذا النظام».
وأضاف: «سنقضي بشكل منهجي على العناصر السيئة، وشركات الطيران والقطاع البحري والأصول الرقمية قد تكون أهدافاً محتملة».
وكان وزير الخزانة الأمريكي رجح في وقت سابق فرض عقوبات على بنك يتعاون مع إيران خلال أسبوع، موضحاً أن الولايات المتحدة تدرس فرض عقوبات على شركات لتأجير الطائرات تتعامل مع إيران، في إطار الحملة الاقتصادية على طهران.
وذكر بيسنت في كلمة ألقاها على هامش قمة قادة المالية لمجموعة العشرين في مدينة أشفيل بولاية نورث كارولاينا الأمريكية، أن واشنطن لا تسامح مطلقاً وأنها عازمة على خنق النظام الإيراني اقتصادياً، مبيناً أن الولايات المتحدة ستلاحق الأصول غير المشروعة للنظام الإيراني التي سرقها من الشعب.
وأضاف أنه من المرجح أن نعلن فرض عقوبات على بنك هذا الأسبوع، وسنعلن عن عقوبات على بنك آخر في الأسبوع الذي يليه. نحن نتحدث إلى حلفائنا هنا، الذين أبدوا جميعاً استعدادهم، وتلقينا دعماً كبيراً. وأضاف: «قد تكون كيانات، وقد ندرس أمر شركات تأجير الطائرات، وقد يكون أي شخص يتعامل مع الحرس الثوري، نحن نتعقب أصول الحرس الثوري».
The U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bissent threatened today (Wednesday) to expand sanctions on Iran to include airlines, the maritime sector, and digital assets. In an interview with Fox News, Bissent called on Russia to abandon its support for the Iranian regime, emphasizing that the United States is conducting comprehensive talks with everyone who supports Iran. He pointed out that his message to everyone is clear: to stay away from supporting Iran, stressing that "no one should support this regime."
He added: "We will systematically eliminate the bad elements, and airlines, the maritime sector, and digital assets could be potential targets."
Earlier, the U.S. Treasury Secretary indicated that sanctions on a bank cooperating with Iran could be imposed within a week, explaining that the United States is considering imposing sanctions on aircraft leasing companies that deal with Iran, as part of the economic campaign against Tehran.
Bissent mentioned in a speech delivered on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Leaders Summit in Asheville, North Carolina, that Washington never forgives and is determined to economically strangle the Iranian regime, indicating that the United States will pursue the illegitimate assets of the Iranian regime that it has stolen from the people.
He added that it is likely we will announce sanctions on a bank this week, and we will announce sanctions on another bank the following week. We are talking to our allies here, who have all shown willingness, and we have received significant support. He added: "There could be entities, and we are considering aircraft leasing companies, and it could be anyone dealing with the Revolutionary Guard; we are tracking the assets of the Revolutionary Guard."
