تسلمت باكستان رئاسة منظمة شنغهاي للتعاون لعام 2026–2027، بعد انتهاء رئاسة قرغيزستان للمنظمة، في ختام قمة قادة الدول الأعضاء التي استضافتها العاصمة بيشكيك.
وأعلن وزير خارجية قرغيزستان جينبيك كولوباييف انتقال الرئاسة إلى باكستان، مهنئاً إسلام آباد ومتمنياً لها رئاسة ناجحة، ومؤكداً استعداد بلاده لتقديم الدعم اللازم لضمان استمرارية العمل والتنسيق بين الدول الأعضاء.
وجاء انتقال الرئاسة عقب اجتماع مجلس رؤساء دول منظمة شنغهاي للتعاون في بيشكيك، الذي بحث سبل تطوير عمل المنظمة وتعزيز التعاون في مجالات الأمن والاقتصاد والنقل والثقافة والمجالات الإنسانية، مع اعتماد وتوقيع 28 وثيقة في ختام الاجتماع.
وتتولى باكستان الرئاسة لمدة عام، على أن تستضيف العاصمة إسلام آباد قمة منظمة شنغهاي للتعاون القادمة في عام 2027، وهو ما يمثل أبرز محطات رئاسة إسلام آباد للمنظمة.
وقال رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف إن بلاده ستقود المنظمة تحت شعار «تحويل الرؤية إلى عمل: الترابط والابتكار والازدهار المشترك»، مع التركيز على تعزيز التعاون بين الدول الأعضاء.
وتكتسب الرئاسة الباكستانية أهمية في ظل اتساع نطاق عمل منظمة شنغهاي للتعاون، التي تضم قوى آسيوية كبرى، من بينها روسيا والصين والهند وإيران وباكستان، وتعمل على تعزيز التعاون في مجالات الأمن ومكافحة الإرهاب والاقتصاد والطاقة والنقل والاتصالات.
وشهدت قمة بيشكيك مشاركة واسعة من قادة ومسؤولي الدول الأعضاء وشركاء المنظمة، بينهم الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين، والرئيس الصيني شي جين بينغ، ورئيس الوزراء الهندي ناريندرا مودي، إلى جانب ممثلين عن دول ومنظمات دولية في صيغة «شنغهاي للتعاون بلس».
وتأتي الرئاسة الباكستانية في وقت تواجه فيه المنطقة تحديات أمنية وجيوسياسية متزايدة، إلى جانب الحاجة إلى تعزيز طرق التجارة والطاقة والربط بين وسط آسيا وجنوبها، وهي ملفات يتوقع أن تحظى بمساحة مهمة على أجندة إسلام آباد خلال فترة رئاستها.
وكانت قرغيزستان قد تولت رئاسة المنظمة للفترة 2025–2026 تحت شعار «25 عاماً على منظمة شنغهاي للتعاون: معاً نحو السلام والتنمية والازدهار المستدام»، قبل أن تسلم الرئاسة رسمياً إلى باكستان في قمة بيشكيك.
Pakistan has assumed the presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for the years 2026–2027, following the end of Kyrgyzstan's presidency of the organization, at the conclusion of the summit of member state leaders hosted by the capital Bishkek.
Kyrgyzstan's Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev announced the transfer of the presidency to Pakistan, congratulating Islamabad and wishing it a successful presidency, while affirming his country's readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure the continuity of work and coordination among member states.
The transfer of the presidency came after a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek, which discussed ways to develop the organization's work and enhance cooperation in the fields of security, economy, transport, culture, and humanitarian areas, with the adoption and signing of 28 documents at the conclusion of the meeting.
Pakistan will hold the presidency for one year, with the capital Islamabad set to host the next Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in 2027, marking a significant milestone in Islamabad's presidency of the organization.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated that his country will lead the organization under the slogan "Transforming Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation, and Shared Prosperity," focusing on enhancing cooperation among member states.
The Pakistani presidency is significant given the expanding scope of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which includes major Asian powers such as Russia, China, India, Iran, and Pakistan, and works to enhance cooperation in the fields of security, counter-terrorism, economy, energy, transport, and communications.
The Bishkek summit witnessed wide participation from leaders and officials of member states and partners of the organization, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with representatives from countries and international organizations in the "Shanghai Cooperation Plus" format.
The Pakistani presidency comes at a time when the region faces increasing security and geopolitical challenges, alongside the need to enhance trade and energy routes and connectivity between Central and South Asia, issues that are expected to occupy an important place on Islamabad's agenda during its presidency.
Kyrgyzstan had held the presidency of the organization for the period 2025–2026 under the slogan "25 Years of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: Together for Peace, Development, and Sustainable Prosperity," before officially handing over the presidency to Pakistan at the Bishkek summit.
