فيما أكدت إيران استمرار المحادثات مع المسؤولين في سلطنة عمان لبحث مسارات السفن في هرمز، أكد مسؤولون في البيت الأبيض أن المضيق مفتوح أمام الجميع باستثناء إيران.
ونقلت مجلة «بوليتيكو» عن مسؤولين في إدارة ترمب والبيت الأبيض أن فريق ترمب بات يعتقد أنه من غير المرجح التوصل إلى مخرج مناسب للأزمة قبل انتخابات نوفمبر.
وأوضح المسؤولون أن مرور ملايين براميل النفط يومياً عبر مضيق هرمز يثبت أن إيران لا تسيطر عليه، مبينين أن طلب أو تلقي ضمانات مرور عبر مضيق هرمز من إيران محظور على المواطنين والكيانات الأمريكية. وأشار إلى أن الجهات الأجنبية التي تطلب أو تتلقى ضمانات من إيران لعبور مضيق هرمز قد تتعرض لعقوبات أمريكية، مبينين أن مضيق هرمز مغلق أمام إيران ومفتوح أمام الجميع كما قال الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب.
في الوقت ذاته، ذكرت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية (سنتكوم) أن قواتها حولت مسار 35 سفينة وعطلت سفينتين منذ استئناف الحصار على الموانئ الإيرانية.
من جهته، قال الوزير الإسرائيلي في المجلس الوزاري المصغر زئيف إلكين إن تراجع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بشأن الهجوم على إيران ليس نهاية المطاف، مبيناً أن هدفه الأساسي مضيق هرمز، وهذه طريقته في المفاوضات.
ونقلت صحيفة معاريف عن مسؤول إسرائيلي قوله إن إيران لا تزال صامدة، وهناك الكثير مما يمكن القيام به، مضيفاً: «لم نقل إننا سنُسقط النظام لكن يمكننا إضعافه بشكل كبير».
ولفت المسؤول إلى أن «القضية هي إن كانت واشنطن ستنسحب من المواجهة، مع احتفاظ إيران ببرنامجها النووي وسيطرتها على مضيق هرمز وإعادتها بناء منظومتها الصاروخية»، مضيفاً: «هذا سيتركنا وحدنا، ما يشكل خطراً وجودياً حقيقياً على إسرائيل».
ولفت إلى أن «إسرائيل ستبقى في حالة التأهب الدفاعية والهجومية، والتقديرات أن موقف إيران هدفه كسب الوقت».
بالمقابل، قالت وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية إن تهديد الأمريكيين ليس أمراً جديداً، مضيفة: «مفاوضاتنا مع عُمان بشأن مضيق هرمز ليست جديدة، ونحن ملزمون بالتعاون للتوصل لآلية عبور للسفن».
وأشارت الوزارة إلى أنه يجري حالياً في عُمان بحث مسار للعبور في مضيق هرمز بحيث لا يكون المسار الشمالي ولا الجنوبي، معتبرة أن مفاوضاتهم مع عُمان ثنائية وغير مرتبطة بأي طرف آخر.
وأقرت الخارجية الإيرانية بفرض واشنطن مساراً جنوبياً في مضيق هرمز بالتعاون مع بعض الأطراف في المنطقة لكنها قالت إن المسار غير آمن.
في غضون ذلك، ذكرت وكالة مهر أن جندياً في الجيش الإيراني قُتل وأصيب آخر إثر اشتباك مع مسلحين في مدينة مريوان الحدودية غربي إيران.
While Iran confirmed the continuation of talks with officials in the Sultanate of Oman to discuss shipping routes in Hormuz, officials at the White House stated that the strait is open to everyone except Iran.
Politico magazine reported that officials in the Trump administration and the White House believe that it is unlikely to reach a suitable resolution to the crisis before the November elections.
Officials explained that the passage of millions of barrels of oil daily through the Strait of Hormuz proves that Iran does not control it, indicating that requesting or receiving guarantees for passage through the Strait of Hormuz from Iran is prohibited for American citizens and entities. They pointed out that foreign parties requesting or receiving guarantees from Iran to cross the Strait of Hormuz may face U.S. sanctions, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to Iran and open to everyone, as U.S. President Donald Trump said.
At the same time, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that its forces redirected 35 ships and disrupted two vessels since the resumption of the blockade on Iranian ports.
For his part, Israeli Minister in the Security Cabinet Zeev Elkin stated that U.S. President Donald Trump's retreat regarding an attack on Iran is not the end of the matter, indicating that his main goal is the Strait of Hormuz, and this is his way of negotiating.
The newspaper Maariv quoted an Israeli official as saying that Iran remains resilient, and there is much that can be done, adding: "We did not say that we will topple the regime, but we can significantly weaken it."
The official pointed out that "the issue is whether Washington will withdraw from the confrontation while Iran retains its nuclear program and control over the Strait of Hormuz and rebuilds its missile system," adding: "This will leave us alone, which poses a real existential threat to Israel."
He noted that "Israel will remain in a state of defensive and offensive readiness, and the assessments are that Iran's position aims to buy time."
In contrast, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the threats from the Americans are not new, adding: "Our negotiations with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz are not new, and we are committed to cooperating to reach a mechanism for the passage of ships."
The ministry indicated that discussions are currently underway in Oman to establish a passage through the Strait of Hormuz that is neither the northern nor the southern route, considering that their negotiations with Oman are bilateral and not linked to any other party.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry acknowledged that Washington is imposing a southern route in the Strait of Hormuz in cooperation with some parties in the region, but stated that the route is not safe.
Meanwhile, Mehr news agency reported that a soldier in the Iranian army was killed and another was injured during a clash with armed militants in the border city of Marivan in western Iran.
