أعلن رئيس الوزراء المجري المنتهية ولايته فيكتور أوربان تخليه عن مقعده في البرلمان الوطني المجري، في خطوة صادمة تعتبر نهاية رمزية لعهد استمر 16 عامًا متواصلة في السلطة.
جاء الإعلان عبر مقطع فيديو نشره أوربان على حسابه الرسمي بموقع فيسبوك بعد اجتماع عاصف لقيادات حزب فيدس، حيث اتفق الحزب على ضرورة إجراء إعادة هيكلة شاملة للكتلة البرلمانية لمواجهة الواقع السياسي الجديد بعد الهزيمة الساحقة في الانتخابات البرلمانية التي جرت في 12 أبريل.
وقال أوربان في الفيديو: «الآن لست مطلوبًا في البرلمان، بل في إعادة تنظيم المعسكر الوطني»، مشيرًا إلى أنه سيعيد التفويض البرلماني الذي حصل عليه كمرشح أول على قائمة فيدس-كيه دي إن بي.
ورغم انسحابه من مقعد البرلمان الذي شغله منذ عام 1990، أي لأكثر من 36 عامًا، أكد أوربان تمسكه برئاسة حزب فيدس، وأعلن نيته الترشح لإعادة انتخابه زعيمًا للحزب في المؤتمر الداخلي المقرر في يونيو القادم.
كما أشار إلى أن جيرجيلي جولياس، الذي شغل سابقًا منصب مدير مكتبه، سيتولى قيادة الكتلة البرلمانية للحزب في المعارضة الجديدة.
وتعرض حزب فيدس لخسارة مدوية، حيث انخفضت مقاعده من 135 إلى 52 مقعدًا فقط من أصل 199 في البرلمان، في المقابل، حقق حزب تيسا بزعامة بيتر ماجيار فوزًا كاسحًا بحصوله على 141 مقعدًا، ما يمنحه أغلبية دستورية (ثلثين) تسمح له بتعديل الدستور وتمرير إصلاحات جذرية.
ورد بيتر ماجيار على قرار أوربان بانتقادات لاذعة عبر وسائل التواصل، معتبرًا أن الأخير لا يزال غير قادر على تحمل مسؤولية الفشل الانتخابي، حيث من المقرر تنصيب ماجيار رئيسًا للوزراء في مطلع مايو 2026.
ويُعد فيكتور أوربان (62 عامًا) أحد أبرز الشخصيات السياسية الأوروبية في العقود الأخيرة، وقد حكم المجر منذ 2010 بأسلوب قومي شعبوي، معتمدًا على سياسات محافظة، مواجهة الهجرة، وخلافات متكررة مع الاتحاد الأوروبي حول سيادة القانون وحرية الإعلام، حيث أدت هذه الخلافات إلى تجميد نحو 17 مليار يورو من أموال الاتحاد الأوروبي المخصصة للمجر.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, whose term has ended, announced his resignation from his seat in the Hungarian National Assembly, in a shocking move that symbolizes the end of a 16-year uninterrupted reign in power.
The announcement came via a video posted by Orbán on his official Facebook account after a stormy meeting of Fidesz party leaders, where the party agreed on the necessity of a comprehensive restructuring of the parliamentary bloc to face the new political reality following the crushing defeat in the parliamentary elections held on April 12.
In the video, Orbán stated: "Now I am not needed in Parliament, but in reorganizing the national camp," indicating that he will return the parliamentary mandate he received as the top candidate on the Fidesz-KDNP list.
Despite his withdrawal from the parliamentary seat he has held since 1990, for more than 36 years, Orbán affirmed his commitment to the presidency of the Fidesz party, announcing his intention to run for re-election as party leader at the internal conference scheduled for next June.
He also noted that Gergely Gulyás, who previously served as his chief of staff, will lead the party's parliamentary group in the new opposition.
The Fidesz party suffered a resounding defeat, as its seats dropped from 135 to only 52 out of 199 in Parliament. In contrast, the Tisza party, led by Péter Magyari, achieved a sweeping victory by securing 141 seats, granting it a constitutional majority (two-thirds) that allows it to amend the constitution and pass radical reforms.
Péter Magyari responded to Orbán's decision with sharp criticism via social media, considering that the latter is still unable to take responsibility for the electoral failure, as Magyari is set to be inaugurated as Prime Minister in early May 2026.
Viktor Orbán (62 years old) is one of the most prominent political figures in Europe in recent decades, having ruled Hungary since 2010 with a nationalist populist style, relying on conservative policies, opposing immigration, and facing repeated disputes with the European Union over the rule of law and media freedom, which have led to the freezing of about 17 billion euros in EU funds allocated to Hungary.
