أعلن نائب وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي ريابكوف، أن بلاده مستعدة لعالم بلا قيود على الأسلحة النووية بعد انتهاء معاهدة «نيو ستارت» هذا الأسبوع.
وقال ريابكوف في تصريحات، اليوم (الثلاثاء): إذا قامت الولايات المتحدة بنشر الكثير من أنظمة الدفاع الصاروخي في جزيرة غرينلاند، فسيتعين على روسيا اتخاذ تدابير تعويضية في المجال العسكري.
وأضاف أنه قبل استئناف الحوار حول الاستقرار الإستراتيجي، يجب أن يكون هناك تغيير للأفضل في نهج الولايات المتحدة تجاه العلاقات مع روسيا. ولفت إلى أن الصين تتبنى موقفا واضحا بشأن السيطرة على الأسلحة، وأن روسيا تحترم هذا الموقف، كما تحترم بكين موقف موسكو.
ودعا المسؤول الروسي فرنسا وبريطانيا إلى الانضمام إلى مفاوضات السيطرة على الأسلحة كي تصبح متعددة الأطراف.
وكان رئيس وزراء غرينلاند ينس فريدريك نيلسن، حذر أمس الإثنين، من أنه رغم استبعاد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب استخدام القوة العسكرية، فإن واشنطن لا تزال تسعى بشكل أساسي للسيطرة على الجزيرة الواقعة في القطب الشمالي.
وقال نيلسن في خطاب أمام البرلمان: «لم يتغير الموقف تجاه غرينلاند وسكانها؛ سترتبط غرينلاند بالولايات المتحدة وستُحكم من هناك». وأضاف أن الولايات المتحدة تواصل البحث عن سبل لامتلاك غرينلاند والسيطرة عليها.
يذكر أن الرئيس ترمب كثّف دعواته للسيطرة على غرينلاند في بداية العام، لافتا إلى مخاوف تتعلق بالأمن القومي فيما يتعلق بروسيا والصين، مما هدد بتفكيك حلف شمال الأطلسي، لكنه تراجع عن تهديداته باستخدام القوة، وقال إنه ضمن وصول الولايات المتحدة الكامل إلى غرينلاند في اتفاق مع حلف شمال الأطلسي، رغم عدم وضوح التفاصيل.
وفي يناير الماضي، قال ترمب إن تفاصيل اتفاق أمريكي بشأن غرينلاند لا تزال قيد التفاوض، وذلك بعد يوم من تراجعه عن التهديد بفرض رسوم جمركية جديدة واستبعاده اللجوء إلى القوة للاستيلاء على الجزيرة التابعة للدنمارك.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov announced that his country is ready for a world without restrictions on nuclear weapons after the "New START" treaty expires this week.
Ryabkov stated in comments today (Tuesday): If the United States deploys many missile defense systems in Greenland, Russia will have to take compensatory measures in the military field.
He added that before resuming dialogue on strategic stability, there must be a positive change in the U.S. approach to relations with Russia. He noted that China adopts a clear position on arms control, and that Russia respects this position, just as Beijing respects Moscow's stance.
The Russian official called on France and Britain to join arms control negotiations to make them multilateral.
Greenland's Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen warned yesterday (Monday) that despite U.S. President Donald Trump's exclusion of military force, Washington is still primarily seeking control over the Arctic island.
Nielsen said in a speech to parliament: "The position towards Greenland and its people has not changed; Greenland will be linked to the United States and will be governed from there." He added that the United States continues to look for ways to own and control Greenland.
It is worth noting that President Trump intensified calls for control over Greenland earlier this year, citing national security concerns regarding Russia and China, which threatened to dismantle NATO, but he backed away from threats to use force, stating that the U.S. would fully access Greenland in an agreement with NATO, although the details remain unclear.
In January, Trump said that details of a U.S. agreement regarding Greenland are still under negotiation, just a day after he backed away from the threat of imposing new tariffs and ruled out resorting to force to seize the Danish territory.
