دعا الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، المشاركين في الاحتجاجات في إيران إلى مواصلة المظاهرات والاستيلاء على السلطة، وأعلن عبر شبكته الخاصة «تروث سوشيال»، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، أن المساعدة في طريقها إليهم.
على أهبة الاستعداد
وكتب الرئيس الأمريكي «أيها الوطنيون الإيرانيون، استمروا في التظاهر، سيطروا على مؤسساتكم»، مضيفاً أنه ألغى كل الاجتماعات مع مسؤولين إيرانيين إلى أن يتوقف القتل العبثي للمتظاهرين، وفق قوله.
وكان ترمب قال قبل أيام إن الولايات المتحدة مستعدة تماماً وعلى أهبة الاستعداد للتدخل، إذا سقط قتلى بين المتظاهرين الذين خرجوا إلى الشوارع بأعداد كبيرة.
وقال ترمب، مساء الاثنين، إن أي دولة تتعامل تجارياً مع إيران، المنتج الرئيسي للنفط، ستواجه رسوماً جمركية جديدة بنسبة 25% على صادراتها إلى الولايات المتحدة. وأضاف ترمب في منشور«هذا الأمر نهائي وقاطع»، دون تقديم تفاصيل حول الأساس القانوني الذي سيستند إليه لفرض الرسوم، أو ما إذا كانت ستستهدف جميع شركاء إيران التجاريين.
وحذّر ترمب إيران من أن واشنطن ستشن هجوماً إذا أطلقت قوات الأمن النار على المتظاهرين. وقالت المتحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض كارولاين ليفيت لصحافيين الاثنين إن «الدبلوماسية هي الخيار الأول دائماً بالنسبة للرئيس» غير أنه يدرس بدائل عديدة منها الغارات الجوية.
سقوط نحو 2000 قتيل
وفيما تتواصل الاحتجاجات في المدن الرئيسية في إيران، اليوم ، كشف مسؤول إيراني عن سقوط نحو 2000 قتيل بينهم رجال أمن خلال المظاهرات التي دخلت أسبوعها الثالث. عودة الاتصالات ومغادرة الرعايا ودعت عدة دول بينها أمريكا مواطنيها لمغادرة إيران، وطلبت الولايات المتحدة مواطنيها حاملي الجنسيتين الأمريكية والإيرانية، المغادرة على الفور، وأعلن عن عودة الاتصالات الهاتفية الدولية مع إيران.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية إن المواطنين الأمريكيين في إيران يواجهون خطراً كبيراً بالاستجواب والاعتقال والاحتجاز، ودعتهم للتوجه براً، إما إلى أرمينيا أو تركيا المجاورتين، أو إلى أذربيجان في حال وجود حاجة ملحة. وانضمت إلى هذه الدعوة كل من السويد وأستراليا وبولندا والهند.
ونقلت وسائل إعلام غربية عن مصادر تأكيدها أن موظفين دبلوماسيين غير أساسيين من السفارة الفرنسية في طهران غادروا البلاد. تهديد بفرض رسوم جمركية وبدأت الهواتف المحمولة في إيران تستعيد القدرة على إجراء مكالمات دولية، بعد قطع خدمة الإنترنت خلال الأيام الماضية. إلا أن البلاد لا تزال محرومة من خدمة الإنترنت منذ 8 يناير، بحسب منظمة «نتبلوكس» غير الحكومية.
U.S. President Donald Trump called on participants in the protests in Iran to continue demonstrating and to seize power, announcing through his social network "Truth Social" today (Tuesday) that help is on the way to them.
On High Alert
The U.S. President wrote, "Iranian patriots, keep protesting, take control of your institutions," adding that he has canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killing of protesters stops, according to his statement.
Trump had said days ago that the United States is fully prepared and on high alert to intervene if there are casualties among the protesters who have taken to the streets in large numbers.
On Monday evening, Trump stated that any country that conducts trade with Iran, the main oil producer, will face new tariffs of 25% on its exports to the United States. Trump added in a post, "This matter is final and conclusive," without providing details on the legal basis he would rely on to impose the tariffs, or whether they would target all of Iran's trade partners.
Trump warned Iran that Washington would launch an attack if security forces fired on protesters. White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt told reporters on Monday that "diplomacy is always the President's first choice," but he is considering several alternatives including airstrikes.
About 2000 Casualties
As protests continue in major cities in Iran today, an Iranian official revealed that about 2000 people have been killed, including security personnel, during the demonstrations that have entered their third week.
