أعلنت وزارة الحرب الأمريكية (البنتاغون)، مساء اليوم (الثلاثاء)، أن وزارة الخارجية وافقت على مبيعات عسكرية أجنبية محتملة للحكومة اللبنانية تشمل مركبات عسكرية متعددة الأغراض عالية الحركة من طراز M1151A1 ومعدات ذات صلة، بتكلفة تقديرية تصل إلى 34.5 مليون دولار.
وأوضحت «البنتاغون» في بيان أن هذه المركبات قادرة على دعم القوات المسلحة اللبنانية في مهماتها الأمنية والعملياتية المتنوعة، ما يسهم في رفع مستوى الجاهزية العسكرية، وتعزيز الاستقرار الداخلي، وتحسين القدرة على مواجهة التهديدات الحدودية والإرهابية.

تعاون دفاعي مستمر
وأكدت وكالة التعاون الأمني الدفاعي أن هذه الخطوة تأتي ضمن إطار التعاون الدفاعي المستمر بين الولايات المتحدة ولبنان، مشددة على أهمية دعم الجيش اللبناني كقوة رئيسية للحفاظ على السيادة الوطنية وحماية المواطنين، دون أن تؤثر على التوازن العسكري في المنطقة.
يأتي هذا الإعلان في سياق الشراكة الإستراتيجية طويلة الأمد بين واشنطن وبيروت، إذ قدمت الولايات المتحدة أكثر من 3 مليارات دولار منذ 2006 لتدريب وتجهيز الجيش اللبناني، الذي يُعتبر القوة الشرعية الوحيدة للحفاظ على الاستقرار في مواجهة التحديات الأمنية، بما في ذلك التهديدات الإرهابية والتوترات الحدودية.
وتعد مركبات M1151A1 نسخة مدرعة متقدمة من عائلة «هامفي»، متعددة الاستخدامات في النقل، والدوريات، والعمليات اللوجستية، وتتميز بحركية عالية وإمكانية تركيب أسلحة.
وتخضع هذه الصفقة المحتملة لمراجعة «الكونغرس»، وإذا تمت، ستعزز قدرات الجيش اللبناني دون تغيير التوازن الإقليمي، كما أكدت DSCA.
وشهد 2025 عدة صفقات مشابهة، مثل الموافقة على مركبات تكتيكية متوسطة بـ90.5 مليون دولار في ديسمبر، ما يعكس التزام واشنطن بدعم لبنان كعامل استقرار في الشرق الأوسط.
The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced this evening (Tuesday) that the State Department has approved potential foreign military sales to the Lebanese government, including high-mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicles (HMMWVs) of the M1151A1 model and related equipment, with an estimated cost of up to $34.5 million.
The Pentagon clarified in a statement that these vehicles are capable of supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces in their various security and operational missions, contributing to enhancing military readiness, strengthening internal stability, and improving the ability to confront border and terrorist threats.

Ongoing Defense Cooperation
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency emphasized that this step is part of the ongoing defense cooperation between the United States and Lebanon, stressing the importance of supporting the Lebanese Army as a key force in maintaining national sovereignty and protecting citizens, without affecting the military balance in the region.
This announcement comes in the context of the long-term strategic partnership between Washington and Beirut, as the United States has provided more than $3 billion since 2006 to train and equip the Lebanese Army, which is considered the only legitimate force to maintain stability in the face of security challenges, including terrorist threats and border tensions.
The M1151A1 vehicles are an advanced armored version of the "Humvee" family, versatile for transport, patrols, and logistical operations, characterized by high mobility and the capability to mount weapons.
This potential deal is subject to "Congress" review, and if it goes through, it will enhance the capabilities of the Lebanese Army without altering the regional balance, as confirmed by the DSCA.
2025 witnessed several similar deals, such as the approval of medium tactical vehicles for $90.5 million in December, reflecting Washington's commitment to supporting Lebanon as a stabilizing factor in the Middle East.
