كشفت مكالمة هاتفية مسرّبة بين الرئيس اليمني السابق علي عبدالله صالح ورئيس المكتب السياسي لحركة «حماس» آنذاك خالد مشعل خلافاً حول «صواريخ حماس» ومدى جدواها في الصراع الفلسطيني الإسرائيلي.
وطالب مشعل في المكالمة، التي تم بثها ضمن فيلم وثائقي، الرئيس اليمني السابق بأن يكون التركيز خلال القمة العربية والمشاورات الدولية والإقليمية على وقف العدوان الإسرائيلي ورفع الحصار عن قطاع غزة، بوصف ذلك أولوية لإنهاء معاناة المدنيين.
حمّل حركة «حماس» المسؤولية
لكن الرئيس اليمني حمّل حركة «حماس» مسؤولية استمرار الغارات الإسرائيلية والمجازر بحق الشعب الفلسطيني، معتبراً أن «إطلاق الصواريخ من قبل المقاومة يوفر للاحتلال الإسرائيلي ذريعة لضرب المدنيين».
وواصل صالح انتقاده قائلاً: إن الصواريخ الفلسطينية «مضرة بالشعب الفلسطيني»، ودعا إلى وقفها فوراً، متهماً الحركة بإنهاء التهدئة مع إسرائيل.
A leaked phone call between former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and the then head of the political bureau of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, revealed a disagreement over "Hamas rockets" and their effectiveness in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In the call, which was broadcast as part of a documentary film, Meshaal urged the former Yemeni president to focus during the Arab summit and international and regional consultations on stopping the Israeli aggression and lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, considering this a priority to end the suffering of civilians.
Blamed Hamas for Responsibility
However, the Yemeni president held Hamas responsible for the continuation of Israeli airstrikes and massacres against the Palestinian people, arguing that "the launching of rockets by the resistance provides the Israeli occupation with a pretext to strike civilians."
Saleh continued his criticism, stating that Palestinian rockets are "harmful to the Palestinian people," and called for an immediate halt to them, accusing the movement of ending the truce with Israel.
