أعلنت وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية (البنتاغون)، اليوم (الأحد)، احتجاز قواتها ناقلة نفط في المحيط الهندي بعد انتهاكها الحظر الذي فرضه الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب على السفن الخاضعة للعقوبات في البحر الكاريبي.
وكتبت وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية في تدوينات على حسابها في «إكس» أن «ناقلة النفط «فيرونيكا 3» التي ترفع علم بنما، حاولت تحدّي الحظر الذي فرضه الرئيس ترمب، على أمل الهروب، وقد طاردناها من البحر الكاريبي حتى المحيط الهندي، وقلصنا المسافة التي تفصلها عنا، وأوقفنا تحركاتها».
وكان «البنتاغون» قد اعترض ناقلة النفط «أكويلا 2» بطريقة مماثلة قبل نحو أسبوع، بعد أن أمر ترمب في ديسمبر الماضي بفرض حظر على سفن النفط الخاضعة للعقوبات والمتجهة من فنزويلا وإليها، وقد تم احتجاز 9 سفن على الأقل حتى الآن.
وبحسب تقارير إعلامية فإن السفن المضبوطة لا تشكل سوى جزء ضئيل من إجمالي عدد سفن «أسطول الظل» الخاضعة للعقوبات التي تنشط في جميع أنحاء العالم في محاولة لتجنبها، ويصل عددها بحسب مسؤولين أمريكيين إلى 800 سفينة.
The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced today (Sunday) that its forces have seized an oil tanker in the Indian Ocean after it violated the ban imposed by President Donald Trump on sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean Sea.
The U.S. Department of Defense wrote in posts on its account on "X" that the oil tanker "Veronica 3," flying the flag of Panama, attempted to challenge the ban imposed by President Trump in hopes of escaping. We pursued it from the Caribbean Sea to the Indian Ocean, reduced the distance between us, and halted its movements.
The Pentagon had intercepted the oil tanker "Aquila 2" in a similar manner about a week ago, after Trump ordered in December to impose a ban on sanctioned oil vessels heading to and from Venezuela. At least 9 ships have been seized so far.
According to media reports, the seized ships represent only a small fraction of the total number of "shadow fleet" vessels under sanctions that operate worldwide in an attempt to evade them, with U.S. officials estimating their number to be around 800 ships.
