أفاد السفير الأمريكي في الصين ديفيد بيردو، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، بأن الاجتماع المنتظر بين الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب والرئيس الصيني شي جين بينغ من المرجح أن يعقد العام القادم بدلاً من الخريف الحالي.
لقاء «ترمب - شي»
وقال بيردو: «نحن نتطلع إلى اللقاء، كما قال الرئيس ترمب، وربما في المستقبل القريب، لكن بالتأكيد العام القادم».
الزيارة الأولى منذ 2019
جاءت تصريحات بيردو، خلال مؤتمر صحفي مشترك مع وفد من النواب الأمريكيين في زيارة نادرة إلى بكين، وهي الأولى منذ عام 2019.
وجاءت هذه التصريحات بعد مكالمة هاتفية أجراها الرئيس ترمب مع الرئيس شي يوم الجمعة الماضي، إذ أعلن ترمب عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي أن الطرفين اتفقا على اللقاء حول قمة متعددة الأطراف في كوريا الجنوبية الشهر القادم.

تجاهل صيني
كما أشار ترمب إلى زيارته المبكرة للصين العام القادم، تليها زيارة شي إلى الولايات المتحدة، أما التقرير الصيني الرسمي عن المكالمة، فلم يتضمن مثل هذه التفاصيل.
وأشار بيردو إلى أن الوفد التابع لمجلس النواب الأمريكي ناقش مكالمة الرئيسين واللقاء المحتمل مع نائب رئيس الوزراء الصيني هي ليفنغ يوم الاثنين، إضافة إلى لقائهم برئيس الوزراء الصيني لي تشيانغ يوم الأحد.
علاقة ترمب وشي
وأضاف بيردو: «أود أن أقول إن العلاقة بين الرئيس شي والرئيس ترمب جيدة جدا ومشجعة حاليا».
قاد الوفد الحزبي المشترك، الذي يتكون من أربعة نواب، النائب الديمقراطي آدم سميث، الذي يشغل أيضا منصب رئيس اللجنة المسلحة في مجلس النواب كأعلى ديمقراطي حاليا.
وأكد سميث أن الوفد ناقش أيضا حل الخلافات حول ملكية تطبيق تيك توك خلال اجتماعاته مع الجانب الصيني.
وشدد سميث على أن غرض الزيارة إلى الصين هو تعزيز التواصل بين البلدين، خصوصا في القضايا العسكرية، قائلا: «نحن ما زلنا نتحدث مع بعضنا البعض دون فهم حقيقي»، مضيفا أن الولايات المتحدة والصين بحاجة إلى «عدم التوافق بالضرورة، لكن على الأقل التواجد في نفس الكتاب».
السفير الأمريكي في بكين
يُعد بيردو، الذي تولى منصبه كسفير أمريكي في الصين في مايو 2025، حليفا مقربا لترمب، وكان سابقا سناتورا عن جورجيا من 2015 إلى 2021.
وتأتي هذه الزيارة في سياق جهود لتهدئة التوترات التجارية بين البلدين، بعد اتفاق مؤقت على خفض التعريفات الجمركية في مايو 2025.
The American ambassador to China, David Perdue, stated today (Tuesday) that the anticipated meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to take place next year instead of this fall.
Meeting "Trump - Xi"
Perdue said, "We look forward to the meeting, as President Trump has said, and perhaps in the near future, but certainly next year."
The First Visit Since 2019
Perdue's remarks came during a joint press conference with a delegation of American lawmakers on a rare visit to Beijing, the first since 2019.
These comments followed a phone call made by President Trump with President Xi last Friday, during which Trump announced via social media that the two sides agreed to meet regarding a multilateral summit in South Korea next month.

Chinese Indifference
Trump also mentioned his early visit to China next year, followed by Xi's visit to the United States; however, the official Chinese report on the call did not include such details.
Perdue noted that the delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives discussed the call between the two presidents and the potential meeting with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on Monday, in addition to their meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Sunday.
Trump and Xi's Relationship
Perdue added, "I would say that the relationship between President Xi and President Trump is very good and encouraging at the moment."
The bipartisan delegation, consisting of four lawmakers, was led by Democratic Representative Adam Smith, who also serves as the chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the House as the highest-ranking Democrat currently.
Smith confirmed that the delegation also discussed resolving disputes over the ownership of the TikTok app during their meetings with the Chinese side.
Smith emphasized that the purpose of the visit to China is to enhance communication between the two countries, especially on military issues, saying, "We are still talking to each other without a real understanding," adding that the U.S. and China need to "not necessarily agree, but at least be on the same page."
The American Ambassador in Beijing
Perdue, who took office as the U.S. ambassador to China in May 2025, is a close ally of Trump and was previously a senator from Georgia from 2015 to 2021.
This visit comes in the context of efforts to ease trade tensions between the two countries, following a temporary agreement to reduce tariffs in May 2025.
