عشية القمة التي سيعقدها مع الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين في ولاية ألاسكا، توعد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب اليوم (الخميس) بفرض عقوبات على روسيا إذا لم يتم التوصل إلى نتيجة، مؤكداً أن الحرب في أوكرانيا تمثل أصعب صراع يعمل على حله.
وقال ترمب في مقابلة إذاعية مع شبكة فوكس اليوم: «الحوافز الاقتصادية والعقوبات ذات تأثير قوي جداً، وكلا الخيارين قويان، وعلى بوتين اختيار ما يناسبه»، موضحاً أن العقوبات جاهزة إذا لم يتم التوصل لنتيجة.
ولفت إلى أنه يعتقد أن الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين يريد إنهاء الحرب وإنجاز اتفاق، مبيناً أن التهديد بفرض عقوبات على روسيا دفع بوتين إلى طلب لقائه.
وأضاف ترمب: «إذا سارت الأمور على ما يرام، سأتصل بعد ذلك بزيلينسكي وقادة أوروبا»، موضحاً أنه لن يتصل بأحد إذا سار اجتماع ألاسكا على نحو سيئ.
وشدد ترمب بالقول: «لا أعلم أننا سنحصل على وقف فوري لإطلاق النار»، ولم يؤكد ترمب ما إذا كانت هناك مؤتمرات صحفية مشتركة مرتقبة، قائلاً: «لا أعرف إن كانت المؤتمرات الصحفية ستكون مشتركة».
ولفت إلى أن هناك 3 مواقع محتملة لعقد لقاء ثانٍ مع بوتين بعد اجتماع ألاسكا.
وأوضح ترمب أن هناك احتمالاً نسبته 25% بأن تفشل القمة مع بوتين، مؤكداً أن أي اتفاق بشأن أوكرانيا سيبرم خلال لقاء ثلاثي بعد قمته مع بوتين.
وكان وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو قد أكد ضرورة الضمانات الأمنية لأوكرانيا، معرباً عن تفاؤله بشأن قمة ألاسكا لكنه قال: «قرار السلام يبقى بيد روسيا وأوكرانيا».
وكان المتحدث باسم الكرملين ديميتري بيسكوف قد حذر اليوم (الخميس) من التنبؤ بنتائج القمة.
ونقلت وكالة أنباء إنترفاكس الروسية عن بيسكوف قوله: «لا توجد خطط لتوقيع أي مستندات عقب القمة المقررة غداً في مدينة أنكوراج بولاية ألاسكا»، مضيفاً: «بوتين وترمب مستعدان ويرغبان في مناقشة أعقد القضايا، وسيكون خطأً كبيراً التنبؤ بنتائج القمة في الوقت الحالي».

Trump said in a radio interview with Fox today: "The economic incentives and sanctions are very powerful, and both options are strong, and it is up to Putin to choose what suits him," explaining that the sanctions are ready if no result is achieved.
He noted that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to end the war and reach an agreement, indicating that the threat of imposing sanctions on Russia prompted Putin to request a meeting with him.
Trump added: "If things go well, I will then call Zelensky and the European leaders," clarifying that he will not call anyone if the Alaska meeting goes poorly.
Trump emphasized by saying: "I don't know that we will get an immediate ceasefire," and he did not confirm whether there would be anticipated joint press conferences, saying: "I don't know if the press conferences will be joint."
He pointed out that there are three potential locations for a second meeting with Putin after the Alaska meeting.
Trump explained that there is a 25% chance that the summit with Putin will fail, asserting that any agreement regarding Ukraine will be made during a trilateral meeting after his summit with Putin.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had confirmed the necessity of security guarantees for Ukraine, expressing optimism about the Alaska summit but stating: "The decision for peace remains in the hands of Russia and Ukraine."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned today (Thursday) against predicting the outcomes of the summit.
The Russian news agency Interfax quoted Peskov as saying: "There are no plans to sign any documents following the summit scheduled for tomorrow in Anchorage, Alaska," adding: "Putin and Trump are ready and willing to discuss the most complex issues, and it would be a big mistake to predict the outcomes of the summit at this time."
