A spokesman for the Thai Prime Minister's Office announced today (Sunday) the date of the meeting between the Thai and Cambodian leaders aimed at conducting talks to end hostilities, confirming that they will meet in Malaysia, following clashes that resulted in the deaths of 34 people and the displacement of 168,000.

The magazine "Politico" quoted spokesman Jirayu Huangsap as saying that acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai will attend talks tomorrow (Monday), in response to an invitation from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, to discuss peace efforts in the region, noting that Phumtham's Cambodian counterpart, Hun Manet, will also attend the talks, although the Cambodian side has not confirmed this.

He pointed out that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is acting in his capacity as the Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which meets on an annual basis by its ten members.

The U.S. President announced yesterday that he will not proceed with trade agreements with either country if hostilities continue, clarifying that both sides agreed to meet to negotiate a ceasefire.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet had stated earlier today that his country agreed to seek an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, explaining that Trump informed him that Thailand also agreed to halt attacks following the U.S. President's conversation with Phumtham.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn to immediately de-escalate tensions and agree to a ceasefire with Thailand regarding the ongoing border dispute, emphasizing Trump's desire for peace and the importance of a ceasefire.

He indicated that his country is ready to facilitate future discussions to ensure peace and stability between Thailand and Cambodia.
