أجرى رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو اتصالا هاتفيا مع البابا ليو اليوم (الجمعة)، وفقاً لبيان صادر عن الفاتيكان.
وجاءت المكالمة بعد يوم من غارة إسرائيلية استهدفت الكنيسة الكاثوليكية الوحيدة في قطاع غزة، ما أسفر عن مقتل 3 أشخاص وإصابة آخرين.
خلال الاتصال، جدد البابا ليو دعوته إلى وقف إطلاق النار وإنهاء الحرب في غزة، معرباً عن قلقه العميق إزاء الوضع الإنساني الكارثي في القطاع الفلسطيني.
كما أكد البابا على الحاجة الملحة لحماية دور العبادة والمؤمنين وجميع الأفراد في الأراضي الفلسطينية وإسرائيل، وفقاً للبيان.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a phone call to Pope Leo today (Friday), according to a statement issued by the Vatican.
The call came a day after an Israeli raid targeted the only Catholic church in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of 3 people and injuries to others.
During the call, Pope Leo renewed his call for a ceasefire and an end to the war in Gaza, expressing his deep concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory.
The Pope also emphasized the urgent need to protect places of worship, believers, and all individuals in the Palestinian territories and Israel, according to the statement.
