أعلنت الشرطة الأمريكية اليوم (الأربعاء) إصابة خمسة أشخاص في حادثة إطلاق نار داخل مركز تسوق في ولاية كونيتيكت الأمريكية.
وقال قائد شرطة ووتر بوري فيرناندو سبانيولو، إن عناصر الشرطة استجابوا لبلاغ عن شجار وقع في مركز «براس ميل» التجاري حوالى الساعة 4:40 مساء.
كما أضاف أن جميع المصابين يتلقون العلاج في مستشفيات محلية، دون أن يفصح عن مدى خطورة الإصابات.
وأوضح سبانيولو أن الشرطة تعتقد أن مطلق النار، الذي كان يحمل مسدساً شبه آلي، كان يعرف الضحايا، وأن الحادث نجم عن خلاف تطور سريعاً إلى إطلاق نار.
وأشار إلى أن الشرطة لم تُلقِ القبض على أي شخص حتى الآن، لكنها تعتقد أنه لا يوجد تهديد إضافي.
وقال سبانيولو خلال مؤتمر صحفي أمام المركز التجاري: «لا نعتقد أن ما حدث كان عمل عنف عشوائياً».
The American police announced today (Wednesday) that five people were injured in a shooting incident inside a shopping mall in the state of Connecticut.
Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo stated that police officers responded to a report of a fight that occurred at the "Brass Mill" shopping center around 4:40 PM.
He also added that all the injured individuals are receiving treatment at local hospitals, without disclosing the severity of their injuries.
Spagnolo clarified that the police believe the shooter, who was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, knew the victims, and that the incident stemmed from a dispute that escalated quickly into gunfire.
He noted that the police have not arrested anyone yet, but they believe there is no additional threat.
Spagnolo said during a press conference outside the shopping center: "We do not believe that what happened was an act of random violence."
