The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jad'i, launched the "Rasid" service, which relies on artificial intelligence technologies to regulate and control the entry of medications accompanying travelers, during the Global Health Forum held in Riyadh from October 27 to 30.

This service was developed by Saudi national staff at the "SIL" artificial intelligence lab affiliated with the authority, marking a qualitative shift from traditional oversight to proactive protection based on data.

The service aims to facilitate the regulatory processes for controlled medications with travelers, overcoming previous challenges such as slow procedures, the variety of medication languages, and the difficulty in reading some handwritten prescriptions; thus improving the experience of visitors to the Kingdom.

"Rasid" automates the matching process between the components of the controlled medication and the patient's condition (via the medical report), or the permissible quantity (via the prescription), with support for more than 50 different languages to complete the matching accurately and quickly.

The "Rasid" service is one of the outputs of the "SIL" artificial intelligence lab launched by the authority last February; serving as a platform for developing and adopting technology solutions based on artificial intelligence, aimed at enhancing innovation and improving the efficiency of regulatory and operational processes within the authority. It also contributes to expanding partnerships with government entities and specialized tech companies to exchange knowledge and develop capabilities in this field, in line with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030.
