أكد المندوب الدائم للمملكة لدى الأمم المتحدة الدكتور عبدالعزيز الواصل، خلال جلسة مجلس الأمن حول الشرق الأوسط، ثبات موقف المملكة تجاه الشعب الفلسطيني وسعيها إلى حلٍّ عادل ودائم لقضيته.
وأوضح الدكتور الواصل أهمية إعادة إعمار غزة وتمكين الشعب الفلسطيني من العيش بكرامة، مشيداً باعتراف عددٍ من الدول بدولة فلسطين وما أسفرت عنه مداولات الجمعية العامة في نيويورك.
وثمّن جهود الوساطة التي بذلها الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، ودول قطر ومصر وتركيا، لبدء تنفيذ وقف الحرب على غزة، مؤكّداً دعم المملكة لكل مسعى يوقف نزيف الدم ويهيّئ لاستقرار مستدام.
وأدان مشروعات القوانين الإسرائيلية الرامية لفرض السيادة على الضفة الغربية والمستوطنات غير الشرعية، داعياً مجلس الأمن إلى تحمّل مسؤولياته لوقف الاستيطان ورفع الحصار وحماية المقدسات، والعمل على إقامة الدولة الفلسطينية وفق القرارات الدولية.
The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, affirmed during the Security Council session on the Middle East the Kingdom's steadfast position towards the Palestinian people and its pursuit of a just and lasting solution to their cause.
Dr. Al-Wasil emphasized the importance of rebuilding Gaza and empowering the Palestinian people to live with dignity, praising the recognition of the State of Palestine by several countries and the outcomes of the General Assembly discussions in New York.
He appreciated the mediation efforts made by U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, to initiate the implementation of a ceasefire in Gaza, affirming the Kingdom's support for any endeavor that halts the bloodshed and paves the way for sustainable stability.
He condemned the Israeli bills aimed at imposing sovereignty over the West Bank and illegal settlements, calling on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities to stop settlement activities, lift the blockade, protect holy sites, and work towards establishing the Palestinian state in accordance with international resolutions.
