The story began on May 14, 2024, 146 days ago, when the prince handed a "card" bearing the logo of the Hail International Conference on Lifestyle Medicine to the Assistant Minister of Health and spokesperson for the ministry, Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdali, directing him to deliver it to the Minister of Health, Fahd Al-Jalajel. He said at that time: "Deliver it to him, and I hope he wears it at the opening of the Hail General Hospital."

The response from Al-Abdali was brief: "It will reach the minister."

That sentence marked the beginning of an administrative action that revived a project that had remained postponed in the region's memory.

Today (Tuesday), the prince indeed completed his message by visiting the new Hail General Hospital project, accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Supply and Engineering Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Turiri. He listened to a detailed explanation about the completion rates, the operational plan, and the project sections targeted for phased operation.

Al-Turiri confirmed that the ministry is proceeding with a specific plan in terms of time and quality, in implementation of the directives of Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel, to make the hospital a qualitative addition to the health facilities in the region.

Regulatory Authorities

The foundation stone for the Hail General Hospital was laid on April 17, 2004, and after 20 years, it has become one of the oldest health projects that faced repeated administrative and technical challenges.

Reports from regulatory authorities indicated that the absence of accurate studies and changing needs during implementation led to a series of modifications, the most notable of which was increasing the capacity from 300 beds to 500 beds and changing system specifications, which caused the project to shift between contracts and contractors without actual completion.
