The New York conference, held today (Monday) under the presidency of Saudi Arabia and France on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, aims to support the two-state solution and the recognition of the Palestinian state by influential and active countries, demonstrating the role that Saudi Arabia plays under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in establishing an independent Palestinian state, considering it a fundamental right and a basis for the peace process.
Saudi Arabia has achieved successes in its efforts in this direction and hopes that the recognition of the Palestinian state will be completed through the New York conference today, which the eyes of the world are directed towards, especially those who believe in the rights of Palestinians to their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and full, unqualified rights akin to those of the secure and stable peoples of the world.
While Saudi Arabia holds a high appreciation for the countries that have recently recognized Palestine, it hopes that all countries will have the courage to make the same decision and join the international consensus represented by 149 countries recognizing Palestine, as the implementation of the two-state solution from Saudi Arabia's perspective is the optimal solution to break the cycle of conflict and suffering, and to establish a new reality in which the region enjoys security and coexistence.
At a time when Palestine, as a state and a people, enjoys unprecedented international support at both the official and popular levels, Israel finds itself in isolation, whether in the Security Council, the General Assembly, or in its bilateral relations, especially with countries that once fully supported it. Today, its isolation will increase through the New York conference, which will witness the announcement of active countries recognizing the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
