The educational administrations have initiated the process of identifying students eligible for rewards or assistance by distributing filling forms to the families of students who meet the criteria for the eligible categories. The Ministry of Education has requested to ensure the accuracy of identifying all students eligible for rewards or assistance through a circular received by the educational administrations, which instructed schools to immediately start identifying the eligible students. This comes as a confirmation of the Ministry of Education's commitment to supporting students through the establishment of a comprehensive system of monthly rewards and assistance aimed at encouraging and motivating them to continue their educational journey and alleviating the financial burdens on their families.
The guiding manual for the mechanisms of disbursing rewards and assistance includes various student categories in general education stages, including special education students, Quran memorization schools, remote areas, in addition to other cases that require support, as specified by the ministry.
The assistance includes the children of deceased teachers in recognition of the efforts of teachers who served in the teaching sector for no less than 10 years or who passed away while on duty. Among the rewards approved by the ministry are monthly rewards for special education students at all educational stages, which also include non-Saudi students with Saudi mothers and students studying in private schools, in recognition of their special circumstances.
Among the approved assistance is the expatriate allowance, which was established to address the challenges of geographical distance and to help students bear the costs of housing and living. This is granted to students who reside with their families in an area where their educational stage is not available, and the nearest suitable school is located at least 50 kilometers from paved roads, or the equivalent distance from desert or rugged roads.
Assistance is discontinued if the student drops out of school, and it is reduced by 50% if the student fails for one year, and is completely cut off if they fail for two consecutive years, with the possibility of reinstatement upon their success. Students are not allowed to combine two rewards or two assistance payments, except in specified cases such as the support system for the children of deceased teachers.
