دعت الولايات المتحدة الأطراف السودانية إلى القبول فوراً ودون شروط مسبقة بـالهدنة الإنسانية المدعومة بآلية الأمم المتحدة في السودان.
محاسبة المسؤولين عن الإبادة
ودعا كبير مستشاري الرئيس الأمريكي للشؤون العربية والأفريقية مسعد بولس، على منصة «إكس»، الأطراف السودانية إلى القبول فوراً، ودون شروط مسبقة، بالهدنة الإنسانية المدعومة بآلية الأمم المتحدة، حتى تتمكن المساعدات المنقذة للحياة من الوصول إلى المدنيين، ويُتاح المجال أمام الحوار.
وقال: بينما نعمل مع شركائنا نحو سلام عادل ودائم، نظل ملتزمين بمحاسبة المسؤولين عن الإبادة الجماعية في السودان، ودعم انتقال موثوق نحو حكومة مدنية.
وأضاف، أن شعب السودان يستحق الأمن والكرامة ومستقبلاً خالياً من الخوف، ونحن نقف إلى جانبه في سعيه إلى السلام الدائم الذي يستحقه.
ولفت إلى العقوبات التي فرضتها الولايات المتحدة على 3 من كبار قادة قوات الدعم السريع المسؤولين عن الإبادة الجماعية، والقتل على أساس عرقي، والتعذيب، والتجويع، وأعمال العنف الجنسي المروعة في الفاشر بالسودان.
عملية سياسية لإنهاء الحرب
وأكد بولس أن هذه العقوبات تأتي استكمالاً لإجراءات سابقة استهدفت أطرافاً مرتبطة بانتهاكات من جميع الجهات، بما في ذلك شبكات إسلامية غذّت حالة عدم الاستقرار في السودان.
وشدد على أن الولايات المتحدة لن تتسامح مع مثل هذه الفظائع أو غيرها من الانتهاكات الجسيمة تحت أي ظرف.
وكثفت الولايات المتحدة من تحركاتها الدبلوماسية، على هامش جلسة مجلس الأمن الدولي في نيويورك، لبحث التطورات في السودان، لإقرار "هدنة إنسانية"، وإطلاق عملية سياسية تنهي الحرب المستمرة منذ أبريل 2023.
وكان بولس، شدد على ضرورة أن تمضي العملية السياسية التي يقودها السودانيون قدماً من أجل استعادة الانتقال المدني والسلام الدائم، مشيراً إلى اجتماع شارك في استضافته مع المندوب الأمريكي لدى الأمم المتحدة مايك والتز، بمقر المنظمة الدولية، يستهدف "تكثيف التنسيق لإنهاء الصراع المدمر في السودان، وتأمين هدنة إنسانية فورية وإعادة إطلاق مسار سياسي دون تأخير".
انسحاب الدعم السريع
وكان مجلس السيادة السوداني عبد الفتاح البرهان، أكد، أمس (الخميس)، أنه «لا هدنة» مع قوات الدعم السريع، و«هي تحتل المدن، والمناطق وتمارس الانتهاكات ضد السودانيين»، لافتاً إلى أن أي وقف لإطلاق النار لن يُقبل إلا بعد انسحاب قوات الدعم السريع.
وأضاف البرهان خلال فعاليات «العيد الوطني لتحرير أم درمان»، أن أي هدنة لا تتضمن انسحاب الدعم السريع وتجمعهم في مناطق محددة لن يقبل بها السودانيون.
The United States called on the Sudanese parties to immediately and unconditionally accept the humanitarian ceasefire supported by the United Nations mechanism in Sudan.
Accountability for those responsible for genocide
Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, Musaad Boulos, called on the Sudanese parties on the platform "X" to immediately and unconditionally accept the humanitarian ceasefire supported by the United Nations mechanism, so that life-saving assistance can reach civilians and create space for dialogue.
He stated: As we work with our partners towards a just and lasting peace, we remain committed to holding accountable those responsible for genocide in Sudan and supporting a reliable transition to a civilian government.
He added that the people of Sudan deserve security, dignity, and a future free from fear, and we stand by them in their pursuit of the lasting peace they deserve.
He pointed to the sanctions imposed by the United States on three senior leaders of the Rapid Support Forces responsible for genocide, ethnic killings, torture, starvation, and horrific acts of sexual violence in El Fasher, Sudan.
A political process to end the war
Boulos confirmed that these sanctions complement previous measures targeting parties linked to violations from all sides, including Islamic networks that fueled instability in Sudan.
He emphasized that the United States will not tolerate such atrocities or any other serious violations under any circumstances.
The United States has intensified its diplomatic efforts on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council session in New York to discuss developments in Sudan, to establish a "humanitarian ceasefire" and launch a political process to end the war that has been ongoing since April 2023.
Boulos stressed the need for the political process led by Sudanese to move forward to restore civilian transition and lasting peace, noting a meeting he co-hosted with U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz at the international organization's headquarters, aimed at "intensifying coordination to end the devastating conflict in Sudan, securing an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, and promptly re-launching the political path."
Withdrawal of Rapid Support Forces
The Sudanese Sovereignty Council, led by Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, confirmed yesterday (Thursday) that "there is no ceasefire" with the Rapid Support Forces, as "they occupy cities and areas and commit violations against Sudanese," noting that any ceasefire will not be accepted unless the Rapid Support Forces withdraw.
Al-Burhan added during the events of the "National Day for the Liberation of Omdurman" that any ceasefire that does not include the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces and their gathering in specified areas will not be accepted by the Sudanese.
