Graduates of the geography and history specialization have faced "almost zero" job opportunities in the educational sector for seven years, as their specializations have been absent from the annual job advertisements issued by the Ministry of Education.
Repeated calls from the graduates have surfaced on the (X) platform; Fawzia Saad expressed her astonishment at the continued neglect of the need for social studies teachers from 2020 to 2025, saying: "We, the graduates of history and geography, have been marginalized for years, while the teaching of our specialization is assigned to non-specialists, which negatively impacts the quality of educational outcomes."
Meanwhile, Rawan wrote: "Since the merging of history and geography under the title of social studies seven years ago, there has been no announcement of any need for us," and she questioned: "When will our sun rise and our dream become a reality?".
Nouf appealed in another post, "We demand a reconsideration of our situation; years have passed since our graduation without job opportunities, despite our numbers being in the thousands." Rief Al-Attawi pointed out that hope still remains. As for Ehsas and Ilaf, they described the talk about "distinguished educational outcomes" as incomplete as long as the teaching of history and geography is still assigned to those unqualified, and they called for the specialization to be returned to its rightful place.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Education began teaching social sciences under this description more than 15 years ago, starting from the fourth grade of elementary school and the first year of middle school, through training workshops for supervisors and teachers at that time.
