The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, met with the Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi at the primary headquarters of the Security Council in the Prime Minister's Palace.
During the meeting, a number of topics related to Islamic solidarity were discussed, as well as the duty to highlight the true nature of Islam to everyone, through its values of justice and the preservation of rights, as well as its values of moderation and mercy towards all, clarifying the manifestations of the tolerance of Islam as included in the texts of the Holy Quran, the purified Sunnah, and the noble prophetic biography, which must be reflected in the behavior of Muslims, both individuals and communities.
The meeting reviewed the challenges facing these urgent objectives, particularly in our contemporary context, including the conflicting interpretations on general and important issues that should unite voices. In this regard, the contents of the "Makkah Document" and the "Document for Building Bridges Between Islamic Sects" were highlighted, along with the significant and prominent role played by the Islamic Fiqh Academy of the League, being the oldest of the fiqh academies, in addition to attracting the general body of the Muslim Ummah's scholars and prominent scholars.
The meeting also addressed another challenge, which is the entrenchment of customs and traditions that contradict Sharia, prevalent in some Islamic communities both inside and outside the Islamic world, and what should be done regarding this by spreading legal awareness with wisdom and good advice, and preventing the exploitation of these gaps—whether intentionally or out of ignorance—to harm Islam and escalate "Islamophobia" ideas and practices. Sheikh Al-Issa praised the efforts of the Afghan government in combating terrorist organizations.
During the same visit, Al-Issa met with the Afghan Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani at the "Shahr-e-Sharif" Palace. The meeting discussed the efforts made by the Afghan government in combating terrorist organizations.
Both sides emphasized that the unity of the word in Islam has great significance, and that conflict and discord pose a significant danger to the solidarity of Muslims and the reputation of Islam, and that this harm cannot be compared to any other interest that some scholars may see in ijtihad issues, which fall short of this supreme Islamic goal, according to the principles of weighing interests and harms established by all Islamic schools of thought.
