There is no doubt that the state, may God honor it, has provided learning opportunities for all its sons and daughters, facilitating the means to do so by opening schools, institutes, colleges, and universities. The aim of all this is to qualify young men and women with knowledge and equip them with education to serve the nation and elevate its status, while providing an academic environment within each region.
Among the innovations in the university admission mechanism is the unification of admissions through a platform that allows every high school graduate to list 25 preferences, according to the platform's green indicator. This mechanism is convenient, yet concerning, as the weighted acceptance rates vary, and it may thwart the dreams of many ambitious students. The consequences of being deprived of completing university education can be significant.
It is natural for the number of high school graduates to be double the number of available spots in universities. Additionally, the competitiveness of the rates will give students from outside the university's region a chance to take spots from those within the region, for one of the goals of establishing universities was to localize them and avoid forcing students to migrate for knowledge.
Perhaps the Ministry of Education (as always) will take the initiative to address the noticeable harm resulting from the aptitude and achievement tests, especially when comparing the number of graduates with the number of accepted students, because the question that continues to occupy the minds of parents is, "Where will our sons and daughters go if they are not accepted by the universities in their region?" And do all parents have the financial means to move to major cities to fulfill the dreams of their beloved children?
