يصادف 18 مايو من كل عام، اليوم الدولي للمرأة في القطاع البحري ما يعد فرصةً للتعريف بإنجازات المرأة وتعزيز دورها في القطاع البحري. وتشارك المملكة في الاحتفاء بهذا اليوم، مؤكدة دور المرأة وحضورها المؤثر في تطور صناعة النقل البحري على المستويات الإقليمية والدولية، ومرسخة التزامها بصفتها عضواً فعالاً في مجلس المنظمة البحرية الدولية (IMO). وتسعى المملكة لتعزيز دور المرأة في صناعة النقل البحري، وتحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، بالشراكة مع المنظمة البحرية الدولية (IMO)؛ التي تهدف إلى المساواة بين الجنسين في القطاع البحري.
وتنطلق الهيئة العامة للنقل من مستهدفات إستراتيجية في ظل جهودها لتمكين المرأة السعودية في القطاع البحري من خلال تنفيذ ورشة تمحورت في التعريف بدور المرأة وبراعتها في العمل بهذا القطاع، بمشاركة العديد من الجهات الداعمة لتمكين المرأة، ومتحدثين من القيادات البحرية المختلفة.
وتمتلك المملكة نماذج نسائية في القطاع البحري، وهي محل فخر واعتزاز للمرأة السعودية، إذ تم تعيين أول سعودية تمثل المملكة في المنظمة البحرية الدولية (IMO) «حياة اليابس» في العام الماضي كمندوب دائم لدى المنظمة، كما مثلت المملكة «وجدان السحيباني» أول رئيس جمعية للمرأة العربية في الملاحة البحرية (AWIMA) في 2017م، وخلال العام الماضي، تم تعيين «نجلاء النعيمي» كأول مدربة بحرية معتمدة في المملكة، فيما حققت «ريم الخويطر» جائزة «أفضل امرأة شابة للعام»، ولا تزال المرأة السعودية تواصل حضورها المميز والمؤثر في هذه الصناعة المتجددة والحيوية.
يشار إلى أن جامعة الملك عبدالعزيز، افتتحت لأول مرة القبول النسائي في تخصصات القطاع البحري، مستحدثة وكالة لشؤون الطالبات بالكلية، بما يتواكب مع رؤية المملكة.
May 18 of each year marks the International Day for Women in the Maritime Sector, which is an opportunity to highlight women's achievements and enhance their role in the maritime sector. The Kingdom participates in celebrating this day, affirming the role of women and their impactful presence in the development of the maritime transport industry at both regional and international levels, and reinforcing its commitment as an active member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The Kingdom seeks to enhance the role of women in the maritime transport industry and achieve economic and social development in partnership with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which aims for gender equality in the maritime sector.
The Public Transport Authority is launching strategic objectives as part of its efforts to empower Saudi women in the maritime sector by implementing a workshop focused on introducing the role of women and their excellence in working in this sector, with the participation of many supporting entities for women's empowerment and speakers from various maritime leaderships.
The Kingdom has female role models in the maritime sector, which are a source of pride for Saudi women. Last year, the first Saudi woman to represent the Kingdom at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), "Hayat Al-Yabis," was appointed as a permanent representative to the organization. Additionally, "Wijdan Al-Suhibani" represented the Kingdom as the first president of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA) in 2017. Last year, "Najla Al-Naemi" was appointed as the first certified maritime trainer in the Kingdom, while "Reem Al-Khowaiter" won the "Best Young Woman of the Year" award. Saudi women continue to make their distinctive and impactful presence in this dynamic and vital industry.
It is noteworthy that King Abdulaziz University has opened, for the first time, female admissions in maritime sector specialties, establishing an agency for female student affairs in the college, in line with the Kingdom's vision.
