Global Model
In Crowd Management
Under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia has launched several initiatives to enhance the level of services provided to the guests of Allah by preparing the infrastructure and improving facilities and services in all forms, employing the latest technologies and innovations in all areas to provide all means of comfort that meet the needs of the expected numbers of pilgrims and Umrah performers and fulfill their aspirations.
Security, Preventive, and Service Plans
Thanks to the generous sponsorship and meticulous follow-up of the Hajj plans, last year's Hajj season achieved remarkable success. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques confirmed that the success of the Hajj season, despite the circumstances in the region, is due to the distinguished efforts made by everyone, in addition to the comprehensive security, preventive, organizational, and service plans that were adopted and implemented. This enabled the guests of Allah to perform their rituals and move between the holy sites with comfort, ease, and tranquility in an atmosphere filled with spirituality, serenity, security, and faith.
30 Million Umrah Performers by 2030
As part of the Kingdom's plan to accommodate 30 million Umrah performers by 2030, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has worked to elevate the services provided to pilgrims and Umrah performers, as well as the skills of field service workers to ensure distinguished services for pilgrims. This includes adopting effective and distinguished training programs, in addition to developing the profession of Tawaf and domestic Hajj using the latest technological means, and working to make Hajj easy and accessible through the provided technology, coordinating with all relevant entities to facilitate the performance of rituals by visitors, and unifying efforts to encourage citizens to contribute to serving the guests of Allah.
Utilizing Artificial Intelligence
The directives of King Salman have resulted in the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah employing artificial intelligence and data analysis technologies to develop services and transform data into insights and predictions that support planning and decision-making, in addition to providing smart solutions and managing movement and crowd control, which contributed to facilitating the journey of the pilgrim and Umrah performer and enhancing their experience, in light of the leadership's care for serving the guests of Allah, and achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Guests of Allah Service Program.
The ministry is working to maximize the strategic value of data through advanced analytics and artificial intelligence technologies, discovering patterns, conducting studies related to Hajj and Umrah trends, the behaviors and preferences of the guests of Allah, supply and demand, as well as employing predictive analytics to anticipate arrival and departure times and lengths of stay and their trends; supporting early planning, preparedness, and decision-making.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has provided the "Digital Mutawif" service through the "Nusk" application, serving as a smart companion for the guest of Allah during the performance of rituals; it employs spatial artificial intelligence to understand their location, movement, and the context of their journey in real-time, directing them to the most suitable paths and floors, automatically calculating the rounds of Tawaf and Sa'i, in addition to displaying appropriate guidance and supplications for each stage. The service recorded over two million uses in one month, with more than 1.4 million beneficiaries completing their Tawaf and Sa'i digitally through it.
Saudi Arabia proves every Hajj season that it is a unique global model in crowd management by overseeing the service and organization of hundreds of thousands of pilgrims. These crowd management efforts would not have succeeded without the support and diligent follow-up from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, for all sectors that dedicated themselves to providing the highest quality services for the pilgrims of the Sacred House of Allah.
The successes in crowd management demonstrate the impressive level of coordination between various state sectors according to a meticulous plan developed throughout the year, aimed at maintaining the security and tranquility of the pilgrims, and providing them with the best services from their arrival until their safe return to their homes after completing their Hajj with ease and comfort.
International, Islamic, and Arab media speak of Saudi Arabia as a unique model in crowd management, closely following the precise implementation of plans at all locations in the holy sites, and how to combine security and health aspects while ensuring the essential needs of pilgrims during their movements with ease and comfort. These media outlets also highlight the care and attention that pilgrims receive throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia until their return to their countries safe and sound.
Managing the Movement of Pilgrims and Crowd Control
On the operational side, the ministry employed advanced algorithms in managing the movement of pilgrims and crowd control, analyzing crowd movements and predicting peak times, in addition to analyzing bus movements and improving transport routes between the holy sites; contributing to enhancing the efficiency of movement and transportation, and supporting operational decisions during the season.
At the level of services provided directly to the guests of Allah, the "Nusk AI" service represents one of the solutions based on artificial intelligence; it provides information and guidance related to Hajj, Umrah, and visitation, answers inquiries and questions, supports more than 180 languages, and allows for voice interaction. Since its launch, more than two million users have benefited from it, including 393 thousand in just the last month.
