تمكّن الفريق الطبي والجراحي المختص التابع للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة اليوم من تحقيق إنجاز طبي جديد بفصل التوأم الملتصق التنزاني «نانسي ونايس»، حيث أجريت العملية في مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال بمدينة الملك عبدالعزيز الطبية التابعة لوزارة الحرس الوطني بمدينة الرياض.
16 ساعة ونصف عبر 10 مراحل
وقال المستشار بالديوان الملكي المشرف العام على مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية رئيس الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الربيعة: «إنه بفضل الله وتوفيقه ثم جهود زملائي وزميلاتي أعضاء الفريق الطبي والجراحي تم فصل التوأم التنزاني (نانسي ونايس) بعد (16) ساعة ونصف عبر (10) مراحل».
وأضاف: «جرى تنفيذ العملية بمشاركة (35) من الاستشاريين والأخصائيين والكوادر التمريضية والفنية من تخصصات التخدير وجراحة الأطفال وجراحة التجميل وجراحة المسالك البولية للأطفال وجراحة العظام للأطفال وبقية التخصصات المساندة، وذلك لضمان أعلى درجات الدقة والسلامة خلال جميع مراحل العملية».
واستذكر الدكتور الربيعة أن التوأم كانتا تلتصقان في منطقة أسفل الصدر والبطن والحوض ولكل منهما طرف سفلي واحد وتشتركان في طرف سفلي ثالث مشوه، كما أنهما تشتركان في الكبد والأمعاء الغليظة وفتحة الشرج، والجهاز البولي والتناسلي مع وجود تشوه في الجهاز التناسلي الخارجي المشترك.
العملية الثالثة لفصل توائم ملتصقة من تنزانيا
ولفت الدكتور الربيعة النظر إلى أن هذه العملية تُعد الثالثة لفصل توائم ملتصقة من تنزانيا، ورقم (71) ضمن سلسلة عمليات البرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، الذي يمتد تاريخه لأكثر من (35) عامًا، وغطى (28) دولة، ودرس (157) حالة من مختلف أنحاء العالم؛ ما يؤكد دور المملكة الريادي في العمل الإنساني بشكل عام والطبي بشكل خاص، وذلك بدعم ورعاية مباشرة من خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود.
ورفع الدكتور عبدالله الربيعة باسمه ونيابة عن جميع أعضاء الفريق أسمى آيات الشكر والعرفان إلى خادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده الأمين على الدعم السخي الذي يحظى به البرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، حتى أصبحت المملكة مركزًا عالميًا متميزًا في هذا المجال، كما تقدم بالشكر لأعضاء الفريق الطبي والجراحي على جهودهم التي كانت سببًا بعد توفيق الله في هذا الإنجاز الطبي الجديد الذي يسجّل لهذا الوطن العزيز.

The specialized medical and surgical team affiliated with the Saudi program for conjoined twins has achieved a new medical milestone today by successfully separating the Tanzanian conjoined twins "Nancy and Nice." The operation was performed at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City, which is part of the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
16 and a Half Hours Across 10 Stages
Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, advisor at the Royal Court and general supervisor of King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center, and head of the medical and surgical team affiliated with the Saudi program for conjoined twins, stated: "Thanks to God and His guidance, as well as the efforts of my colleagues in the medical and surgical team, the Tanzanian twins (Nancy and Nice) were separated after (16) and a half hours through (10) stages."
He added: "The operation was carried out with the participation of (35) consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff from the fields of anesthesia, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric urology, pediatric orthopedics, and other supporting specialties, to ensure the highest levels of accuracy and safety throughout all stages of the operation."
Dr. Al-Rabeeah recalled that the twins were conjoined in the area of the lower chest, abdomen, and pelvis, each having one lower limb and sharing a third deformed lower limb. They also shared a liver, large intestines, anus, urinary and reproductive systems, with a deformity in the shared external reproductive system.
The Third Operation to Separate Conjoined Twins from Tanzania
Dr. Al-Rabeeah pointed out that this operation is the third for separating conjoined twins from Tanzania and is the (71st) in the series of operations of the Saudi program for conjoined twins, which has a history spanning over (35) years, covering (28) countries, and studying (157) cases from around the world. This underscores the Kingdom's pioneering role in humanitarian work in general and medical work in particular, with direct support and sponsorship from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah expressed, on his behalf and on behalf of all team members, the highest expressions of gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince for the generous support received by the Saudi program for conjoined twins, which has made the Kingdom a distinguished global center in this field. He also thanked the medical and surgical team members for their efforts that contributed, after God's grace, to this new medical achievement recorded for this dear nation.
