إنفاذاً لتوجيهات خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، بدأ الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، صباح اليوم (الخميس)، عملية فصل التوأم الملتصق التنزاني «نانسي ونايس» وعمرهما سنة و(6) أشهر، وذلك في مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال بمدينة الملك عبدالعزيز الطبية بوزارة الحرس الوطني في الرياض.
فحوصات دقيقة ومتعددة
وأوضح المشرف العام على مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية رئيس الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الربيعة، أن التوأم الملتصق التنزاني «نانسي ونايس» قدمتا إلى المملكة في 27 يناير 2026، وبعد دخول التوأم إلى مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال، قام الفريق الطبي بإجراء فحوصات دقيقة ومتعددة لهما وعقد عدة اجتماعات توصل من خلالها إلى أن التوأم يلتصقان في منطقة أسفل الصدر والبطن والحوض ولكل منهما طرف سفلي واحد وتشتركان في طرف سفلي ثالث مشوه.
وبيّن أن الفحوصات كشفت عن اشتراكهما في الكبد والأمعاء الغليظة وفتحة الشرج، والجهاز البولي والتناسلي مع وجود تشوه في الجهاز التناسلي الخارجي المشترك.

العملية تستغرق 16 ساعة على 10 مراحل
وأشار الدكتور عبدالله الربيعة إلى أنه من المقرر أن تجرى العملية على 10 مراحل وتستغرق نحو 16 ساعة، ويشارك فيها 35 من الاستشاريين والأخصائيين والكوادر التمريضية والفنية من تخصصات التخدير وجراحة الأطفال وجراحة التجميل وجراحة المسالك البولية للأطفال وجراحة العظام للأطفال وبقية التخصصات المساندة، موضحًا أن هذه العملية تعد من العمليات الدقيقة ونسبة نجاحها -بمشيئة الله- تزيد على 60 %.
العملية الثالثة لتوائم ملتصقة من تنزانيا
ولفت الدكتور الربيعة إلى أن هذه العملية تعد الثالثة لتوائم ملتصقة من تنزانيا، وهي رقم (71) ضمن البرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة الذي استطاع منذ عام 1990، أن يعتني بـ (157) توأمًا من (28) دولة في (5) قارات.
ورفع باسمه ونيابة عن زملائه أعضاء الفريق الطبي الشكر والتقدير والامتنان لخادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده الأمين على ما يحظى به البرنامج من دعم واهتمام ومتابعة مستمرة، سائلًا المولى عز وجل أن تكلل العملية بالنجاح، وأن يمنّ على التوأم التنزاني بالصحة والعافية.
In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the medical and surgical team of the Saudi program for conjoined twins began this morning (Thursday) the separation operation for the Tanzanian conjoined twins "Nancy and Nice," who are one year and (6) months old, at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
Precise and Multiple Examinations
The General Supervisor of the King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center and head of the medical and surgical team of the program, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabiah, explained that the Tanzanian conjoined twins "Nancy and Nice" arrived in the Kingdom on January 27, 2026. After the twins were admitted to King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital, the medical team conducted precise and multiple examinations and held several meetings, through which they concluded that the twins are conjoined in the area of the lower chest, abdomen, and pelvis, with each having one lower limb and sharing a deformed third lower limb.
He indicated that the examinations revealed that they share the liver, large intestine, anus, and the urinary and reproductive systems, with a deformity in the shared external reproductive system.

The Operation Lasts 16 Hours Over 10 Stages
Dr. Abdullah Al Rabiah pointed out that the operation is scheduled to be conducted in 10 stages and will take approximately 16 hours, involving 35 consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff from the fields of anesthesia, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric urology, pediatric orthopedics, and other supporting specialties. He clarified that this operation is considered one of the precise surgeries, with a success rate - God willing - exceeding 60%.
The Third Operation for Conjoined Twins from Tanzania
Dr. Al Rabiah noted that this operation is the third for conjoined twins from Tanzania and is number (71) within the Saudi program for conjoined twins, which has been able since 1990 to care for (157) twins from (28) countries across (5) continents.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation, on behalf of himself and his fellow medical team members, to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince for the support, attention, and continuous follow-up that the program receives, asking Almighty God to crown the operation with success and to grant the Tanzanian twins health and wellness.
