Yemeni media reported that a drone, believed to be American, targeted two individuals on the coast of the Baroom district in Hadramout Governorate last night, confirming that the two individuals are linked to Al-Qaeda.
It was clarified that the shelling resulted in the death of one person and the injury of another, while security forces cordoned off the area.
Yemeni researcher and journalist specializing in extremist Islamic movements, Mohammed bin Faisal, stated in a post on "X" that the airstrike is believed to be American and targeted an individual in front of the sea near the security administration, close to the fish landing dock in the Baroom area of Mukalla in Hadramout Governorate, noting that the targeted individual is Suleiman Saeed Al-Mohamadi.
Faisal quoted a security source as saying that Al-Mohamadi frequently traveled to Marib and moved between the Hadramout Valley and Mukalla, and recently two individuals from outside the Mukalla area visited him, pointing out that Al-Mohamadi is linked to a leader in Al-Qaeda known as "Abu Al-Leith Al-Hadrami," within a cell that was working on coordinating logistics between Yemen and Somalia and planning operations inside Mukalla, the most prominent of which was targeting the central prison and smuggling detainees of the organization, in addition to coordinating with local fishermen to monitor ships on the international maritime line.
Local sources reported that one of the targets is from the area, while the identity of the second individual remains unclear after his body was burned, with indications that he is a field leader in Al-Qaeda.
Local residents explained that the drone had been flying over the city of Baroom and its coasts since the afternoon hours before executing the strike later in the evening, and no official statements have been issued regarding the incident.
