The Egyptian artist Ahmed El Awady has returned to clarify his recent statements that sparked widespread controversy on social media, confirming that his remarks about cars during his appearance on the program (My Story) were not intended to refer to romantic relationships or to insult anyone.
El Awady published a statement on his official (Facebook) account, explaining that the analogy that circulated, taken out of context from the interview, was related to the stages of his life and the improvement of his circumstances, and not as interpreted to refer to his past relationships.
The Egyptian artist emphasized that he did not intend to convey any negative meaning towards any party, expressing his apologies for any different understanding of his words, and stressing his constant commitment to treating others with respect and appreciation.
El Awady specifically mentioned the artist Yasmin Abdel Aziz, affirming his utmost respect and appreciation for her, describing her as "the number one star in the Arab world." He also expressed his gratitude for what she has contributed to him throughout his artistic career, wishing her continued success and brilliance. He noted that he cherishes good memories of the people who have passed through his life, considering that an apology becomes necessary when words are understood in a way that does not align with their intended meaning.
The controversy erupted after a clip from El Awady's interview on the program (My Story) circulated, in which he spoke about the stages of his rise and the changes in his life circumstances, using the experience of driving different cars to express the transition from one stage to another. The clip spread widely after being taken out of the context of the conversation, prompting El Awady to issue his clarification to place his remarks in the context he intended and to resolve the confusion that accompanied the statement in the past hours.
