The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom has tasked a number of members of the Council of Senior Scholars with issuing fatwas in various regions of the Kingdom, continuing the royal decree to limit fatwas to members of the Council of Senior Scholars, which includes: Sheikh Dr. Yusuf bin Muhammad bin Abdulaziz bin Said in the branches of the presidency in the regions of Tabuk and Al-Jawf, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Muhammad Al-Mukhtar bin Muhammad Mazid in the branch of the presidency in the Medina region, Sheikh Dr. Jibril bin Muhammad bin Hassan Al-Busaili in the branches of the presidency in the regions of Asir and Jazan, Sheikh Dr. Ghaleb bin Muhammad bin Abu Al-Qasim Hamdhi in the branches of the presidency in the regions of Al-Baha and Najran, Sheikh Dr. Sami bin Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Suqair in the branches of the presidency in the regions of Al-Qassim and Ha'il, Sheikh Dr. Bandar bin Abdulaziz bin Siraj Buleilah in the branch of the presidency in Mecca, and Sheikh Dr. Abdulilah bin Muhammad Al-Mulla in the branches of the presidency in the Eastern Province and the Northern Borders.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars and the General Supervisor of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the General Presidency for Scientific Research and Ifta, Sheikh Dr. Fahd bin Saad Al-Majid, stated: “This assignment from the Mufti comes within the framework of the royal decree to limit fatwas to members of the Council of Senior Scholars, ensuring that fatwas are received from their approved sources and contributing to increasing the connection of the council members with the community in all regions of the Kingdom, in accordance with a vision aimed at facilitating fatwas for the inquirers.”

He explained that the General Presidency for Scientific Research and Ifta will work on everything that enables the honorable and virtuous members to carry out their fatwa duties with ease, including supporting them with a research team of over eighty specialized researchers in Sharia sciences, as well as activating digital solutions.

Performance Efficiency

He indicated that the General Presidency for Scientific Research and Ifta, in cooperation with the Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), has initiated efforts that align strategically with the objectives of Vision 2030 in enhancing government performance efficiency through comprehensive digital transformation, ultimately facilitating knowledge services for beneficiaries.

Dr. Al-Majid noted that assigning members of the Council of Senior Scholars to issue fatwas in the regions of the Kingdom ensures that fatwas are regulated from their approved and trusted sources, which is one of the foundations for instilling the values of moderation and balance; as the fatwa that adheres to the principles of the noble Sharia, based on solid scientific understanding, is among the most important factors that enhance the values of moderation and balance.

He expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the support and assistance received by the General Presidency for Scientific Research and Ifta and the Council of Senior Scholars in fulfilling their duty to enlighten people about their religious matters.
